My friends and I was watching our shows on YT, run across this EXCELLENT of episode of B&B. I have always been hot or cold personally on B&B but this was a period I did watch the show. Look at all these rich characters on canvas:
This is about Caroline dying, I was a fan of Ridge\ Caroline \Brooke more so then Ridge\Taylor\Brooke
It is short, sweet in 4 parts but a powerful episode. Short and sweet...Enjoy..let me know see the difference between Bill & Brad's B&B, I do.
Margo, Bill, Caroline, Jake (yummy), Donna, Katie, Macy, Sally, & "Bucky" Taylor Hayes new character

In the episode, Brooke told Ridge that his beloved Caroline was dying of cancer. Macy's real identity is found out. This is what soaps are about, secrets coming out. Luckily, this little gem was found on a twenty-five year old tape that was disintegrating but this episode from 1990 was rescued to be shared with everyone.
I loved Sally and then Macy is found out to her daughter was icing on the cake. The difference here Bill Bell was head writing and EP of this time period along w\Y&R...that explains hellva' alot. Bradley is co and effing Maria Arena is a writer....bit of irony...JER is story consultant....he could write good soap before all the supernatural .

The difference FOR ME between

The difference FOR ME between Bill and Brad's B&B is balance and pacing.

On Bill Bell's version of B&B, there wasn't ONE character that I can think of that didn't get their own personal time to shine. All of the characters were treated equally, regardless of what Mr. Bell had planned as "endgame". Each fan base got their few weeks or months of their favs, and then things turned around. It kept things interesting. The stories WERE, however, campy...though people tend to forget now that B&B has ALWAYS been a campy, over-the-top, glamorous show. But it wasn't SILLY. There were hilarious comedic characters who could also play drama. There were socially relevant storylines, there were the fashion wars, there was style, glamor, humor, drama, action, mystery, adventure...it was everything all rolled into 30 minutes, and I LOVED it. Thought it was only 30 minutes, we had several storylines going on at once in ONE episode. The entire show wasn't built around Brooke and Ridge, even IF they were meant to be endgame. THe characters were all integrated. Though Spectra and Forrester were rival companies, the employees OFTEN shared scenes and storylines together. Under Bill Bell, my favorite characters were: Macy, Sally, Stephanie, Brooke, Taylor, Jake, and Thorne.

BRAD BELL'S B&B is a bit different. In my opinion, B&B can sometimes be considered a soap "spoof" because it is moreso camp and not enough realistic drama. The storylines are RUSHED. And what irks me the MOST about B&B now sometimes, is that one storyline dominates the ENTIRE show. For the past few months, it's been the Steffy/Liam/Hope triangle thingy. Not saying that those three are in every scene, but their story is talked about in EVERY single scene. The other stories that were building all get dropped, just so we can see these three characters discussed for 30 minutes. It's annoying to say the least. Even if we ARE interested in it, that's not the only thing we'd like to see of the show. Brad Bell also has favorites....aka Ridge, Brooke, Hope, Steffy, Liam and all the others are pushed to the side. Brad BEll also seemingly has forgotten how to pen a GOOD villain. B&B hasn't had a decent action sequence since SHeila Carter's last visit, which had to have been almost a decade ago. The show tends to get stale sometimes because new characters are rarely introduced (Which some may consider good). All in all, I don't think Brad Bell's a horrible writer. IN fact, I think he's one of the most talented in daytime. I just think he gets lazy during the year, and then he turns out a couple of BRILLIANT stories, and then one amazing one to grab the emmy.

As for Maria Arena being one of the writers back then, Maria Arena was also the writer of Y&R during 2008 when the show made a complete TURNAROUND from the crap it had become in 2007. Maria Arena Bell actually has penned some really good stuff for Y&R amongst all the other CRAP. I also think SHE'S a capable writer. I don't think she's a capable headwriter, however. In fact, I honestly think if we were to put Brad Bell and Maria ARena BEll together on a soap, it would be pretty freakin' awesome. Let Brad co-write for Y&R, and fire Hogan Sheffer and Scott Hamner. Bring in Kay Alden as Headwriter....and I think things would be great.

B&B right now is good. Y&R right now (as in THIS week) is on fire. So I'm happy. I won't do too much complaining Wink

Yes Stoney07, that is how I

Yes Stoney07, that is how I see B&B and difference between Bill's B&B and Brad's B&B. Bill's was campy, glamorous, social but the key word is not silly, rich characters then in the beginning years. I loved Sally, Sal, Darla, Macy Bucky period, how can you not love Sally. Brad's can be silly, aka "sexual berries". Bill made sure to distinguish B&B from Y&R. I'm not a huge fan of B&B, like I said I run hot & cold. I watched more consistently during the first few years, stopped then when Deacon emerged I started watching again, stopped but been peeking in once again because of Heather Tom. Brad can be good and he does have his dad's flair for social issues and he does quite well in that area. As for MAB, she worked on the writing staff of Y&R back in in early '90s, she must been out shopping for engagement rings with Bill Jr. or something because she writes nothing like Bill and learned nothing from Bill. This is where we disagree completely on Y&R, I don't see it on fire personally, but a hot mess of muck. I agree Maria should be in writing staff but not head writer position. I rather have Deacon on B&B because of the history and story is so much greater. I feel the Nikki & Deacon marriage is all ass backwards, another shotgun wedding, aka Victor\Diane, if rumors are true what I have read about possible Sharon\Victor hookup, lordy I do pray this wrong. I can't stomach if true. Piss poor writing, I haven't watched Y&R for over 6 months now, it's bleeding viewership badly and I don't want Y&R cancelled it's my last CBS soap. CBSer for life here but I want serious change to make this grand soap...well grand again. Thanks for view
