I just found out on Facebook that Eric has indeed signed a multi-year contract with Y&R. I can say without any reservation that this is not music to my ears! I was hoping that Eric would take a hike and leave the show!

Sad

I know a lot of people are

I know a lot of people are over him, but his character does have a place on the show. We really do need a long lasting reunion with Victor and Nikki so the Newmans again can be a family on the show. Everyone has been pitted against each other. Having said that, I don't need him front and center and he needs to sometimes show a more human side like he used to be written. The Newmasn and Abbots are classic soap families when pitted against each other not like they've been written for a while.

Multi-year deals are not what

Multi-year deals are not what they used to be. The show is only guaranteed to be on the air up to 2014, I believe.

People need a break from

People need a break from Victor as we do with Phyllis...but we do need Victor on canvas. Their is place for EB but not as a dictator of story.

I don't know....I was hoping

I don't know....I was hoping for a real shocker with EB leaving or getting fired. THAT would have made this show really open up to new possibilities! It's time for EB to go. He is 71 years old and should retire with grace. He doesn't need to be driving story, nor do I want to see him turn into a grumpy old man grizzling in the corner of the ranch. Big stars should always leave as big as they are, not stay on to make appearances every six months - that waters down the character. If they plan on doing that, scrap it!

I too was hoping he'd leave or get fired. When he answered that infamous question about having a say on what goes in the scripts during the Paley Center panel celebrating (sic) Y&R's 10,000th episode and said that he has no control over what the writer's write, I about vomited! What a bald faced lie! Maria let him run rough shod over her and demand that Victor say certain things and that Victor always triumphs in all things in Genoa City. I know that JFP and JG won't put up with that crap from him now. He may have gotten away with it when MAB was in charge, but no more.
