Anyone else out there not digging all the new music? I don't like that the new regime has all but scrapped the old scores that stood out as part of Y&R's signature. I was watching the other day thinking, this show feels nothing like Y&R. Lots of new sets, lots of new characters and now lots of new music are making me think Jill has that hatchet in her hand and not the scalpel. Someone needs to reign her in. Some changes were necessary but they were mostly in the writing. Which by the way is still not to par. They have better ideas but the execution of many of these stories are rushed or not tied to anything. What was Noah's storyline born from? It's just a, "going no where idea", that they pulled out of their arse. JG should be writing from history and not plot. They need to address things in steps and not throw the baby out with the bathwater.

I'm all for new music as long as it enhances and improves on what was there. I have heard some good stuff but it's mostly forgettable. Show is in the territory of being, unfamiliar. Not a good place to be when your trying to survive. I'm baffled decades later how some regimes still have not learned from their mistakes. I think the fans could write these shows better.

Restless Fan...I HATE

Restless Fan...I HATE it.

It's is all part of Jill's plan to make the show more "alluring". I keep squawking that there was absolutely NOTHING wrong with the production. Loved the old sets, old music, direction, etc. The only thing I wanted was an overhaul of the writing.

This will keep happening. I'm not a fan of Jill. But it's the writing that has my focus right now...I hope that continues in its positive direction.

Glad to hear someone else

Glad to hear someone else does pferrando. I'm old school Y&R about a lot of things. Simply because no one has come along and done it better. The music was part of it's moodiness. It was also unique and gave Y&R is own signature sound. The music they are using now is like anything you'd hear on GH or DAYS.

I agree the most pressing problem Y&R had was in it's writing. It has improved by leaps and bounds since Maria. They still have improvements for sure. The show is still not anywhere near the level it was pre-LML.

I really wish Jill would re-think some of her choices. It keeps me on the fence between loving and hating her work. Time will tell I guess.

Naw not feeling the music on

Naw not feeling the music on Y&R either! It reminds me of Grey's Anatomy and at times I feel the music is too loud and drowns the actors out when they're speaking. It annoys me, and Y&R music when they lead up to something big was always top notch!

I don't want daytime trying to look like a primetime drama. I personally like how the daytime dramas are design with their look, their feel, their music. It classic, and who to say that a primetime drama look, feel and music is right. Sometimes I rather a primetime drama take notes from a daytime drama. In some capacity they need to leave things alone, and the music is one of them!

I'd love nothing better than

I'd love nothing better than for Y&R to be around for another 20 years. I do believe Angelica McDaniel cares about the line-up. I even believe Steve Kent does. I just don't want them to strip Y&R of it's signature. I think fans have been patient with just how bad things got and just want some semblance of what the show was.

The writing will never be as deep as it was pre 06. I just don't believe anyone in charge thinks fans will sit through an engaging in depth story. Personally I think they are wrong. I want to see that kind of storytelling. I miss that kind of storytelling. But now we are having areas of the Y&R brand messed with that frankly were the only things working during the awful MAB years. Like the music. It was part of Bill Bells signature. Again, I don't mind change as long as it enhances. The new stuff isn't better than what replaced it. Not by a long shot.

I actually had a dream recently that JFP changed the shows theme song. I was so upset. LOL. I hope she NEVER screws with that music because I know she has changed that element of every show she's worked on in the last 20 years. That may prove to be too much for this fan. But I do worry about it because she's done A LOT in 3 months.

"I just don't want them to

"I just don't want them to strip Y&R of it's signature..." That's my feeling exactly Restless. I know people hated Maria for her writing, but she maintained so many elements including bringing back numerous old faces over and over again. And kept the music and returned the scenes to familiar sets.

I knew we'd lose sets, and music, and I'm waiting for the next "shoe to drop". I'm thinking as these newers faces keep coming to the show that we'll see less and less of current characters, and I doubt Tricia C and Beth M and all the others, will ever step foot on the screen again.
