This is great insight on how this woman that says she grew watching soaps and had geniue love for the medium and how she had to sit down again and just watch her soaps again. She admitted she had gotten away viewing soaps but she shows there is a real love of soaps! Love All networks need the same type of ppl in-charge that love this genre AGAIN! She tells fans don't worry about Jeanne Cooper she's not going anywhere.

It was a good interview.

It was a good interview. It's nice to know the days of morons in charge like Barbara Bloom and Brian Frons are over. Cancers in the industry who slowly killed their soap line-ups. I'm glad to hear their is still a commitment to veteran characters.

Barbara Bloom in my opinion

Barbara Bloom in my opinion is the real evil when it came to the first time Y and R ever went through a creative crisis. Allowing Kay and Jack to be replaced...what is the hell happened there. Who put her in charge?

pferrando Agreed! That

pferrando Agreed! That woman singly handily picked LML to replace Kay, Jack and Ed Scott. I don't think Barbara was a fan of Y&R, or the other CBS soaps for that matter (ATWT and GL were murdered under her). Bloom made big moves that began the slow collapse of the then, well oiled, Y&R machine. She changed it into what she thought it should be. The show wasn't broken but she made moves like it was. The tone of Y&R was so different. I was pissed. Still am because look at where we are now. I never thought Y&R would be that show that had to be rebuilt again. I was fairly certain the team that studied under Bill Bell was in it for the long haul. I would love to sit with Kay Alden and just find out how she feels about it. It must be hard to watch characters you created and nurtured for years (and in a lot of cases decades) being butchered by idiots. Those writers and producers really protected the characters Bill had created. Then when they became in charge they created some very memorable ones of their own. I would think it had some affect on her? I would actually love to talk to Kay about a lot of things. Smile

Well I'm glad CBS has a smart gal in the drivers seat. It will look wonderful for Angelica if she can rebuild this dynasty. So far she's off to a good start.

Pfferando, Restless....OH

Pfferando, Restless....OH Babs Bloom "Soap Killer".!! Angry She wiped out 3 decades of viewing of my soaps! She was friends w\Frons if I recall. I do think she was playing hardball from the beginnning and was pressuring P&G on the renewal of their soaps, especailly w\GL. She wanted GL & ATWT gone for a vision of her CBS daytime. She's nothing more then a bloody butcher of daytime. Lucy Johnson knew how to run a daypart for CBS. She took a well oiled machine of CBS wanting to "infuse younger, edgy daytime". She didn't like the P&G soaps and wanted them gone and wanted to make Y&R more like ABC soaps. BB came from ABC. She didn't have that type of control over B&B but limited amount.

I'm glad that I am not the

I'm glad that I am not the only one who can't put it in the past. I always used to think that Y and R would continue (as it had for some time) in great shape without our Bill, and then along came that "starts with a "c" and ends with a "t"...Babs!

I may overdefend the show, especially the writing now, but I do like to see some of Josh's good writing. His style is at least kind of in line with how it would be written pre LML...
