Now I have finally figured it out. Gary Reynolds went to the strip club when Nikki had first started out. She started at the Club when she was 16 or 17 (using a fake ID), and became impregnated with Gary's son. She gave the baby up for adoption, and Kay knows about the baby, and the baby is Dylan.

Katherine knows about "the missing child", and has left 25% of Chancellor to said child -- Dylan. Dylan will soon be CEO of Chancellor.

Hey Mon, I giggled my ass off at this scenario but think about what the letter said to Jill "everything you want is in front of you"...the only thing I could think of (just throwing it out there)and what does Gary have to do with this madness...maybe she gives Jill Gary's properties and holdings, knowing Brock isn't interested...a bigger stake than just CEO? Puzzled

Gary Reynolds & Phillip Chancellor was business partners that started Chancellor? Who knows?

Gary Reynolds was dead when

Gary Reynolds was dead when Katherine\Brock first appeared but always stated was Phillip's partner in CI...now if JFP did do something like this as hey mon stated this is wrong on so many levels because it would mean Nikki was way to young or she was stripping at the age of 10...Brock is close to Nikki's age.

Yep, it couldn't be. MTS came on to the show in 1979 and Nikki was only around 19 at that time. Y&R started in 1973, which means that if Gary and Nikki had ever met, she would have been no less than 13 y.o. or something like that. Not possible.

Everyone's talking Gary

Why? Why? Why?

Why in the #ell is everyone mentioning Gary Reynolds?

It's funny, because no one is mentioning Brock or Mackenzie, and they are Gary's son and grad-daughter, but Jill and Nikki both mentioned Gary last week. So there has to be a reason a character from pre-1973 is being mentioned.

I think Nikki is going to be SORASed to her MTS-true age of 57, which would make her 16 years old when she met Gary at the Club in 1972, and conceived with him. Nikki never mentioned Dylan to anyone because Gary had died anyway, she gave him to the agency, so why bring the baby up?

I know this is a bell show and they love their incest stories but if Sharon is Nikki's daughter, then Nick and Sharon are siblings... shudder!

Brock Today

Hey, it was good to see Brock today. Maybe he knows something-something about his Dad, Greg Reynolds, and his half-brother, Dylan.

"Jill...Nikki and I went to school together, and Nikki was already a dancer at The Club in the 12th grade. Dad would go to the Club often, and Mom hated it. One day Nikki and Dad were together, and Dad spent all night away from Mom, then the next day Dad came home alone. Nikki came over the house, crying to Dad, and Dad told her to leave and get out -- loudly. Then Nikki left town, and rumor said she had a baby in Chicago. But when she came back a year later, she was alone.

Meanwhile, Dad died of massive heart attack, and Mom married Phil Chancellor, and the rest is history.

I wonder what ever happened to Nikki in Chicago that year she was gone."

Jim Jones

Laughing out loud I did a research paper on Jim Jones and the People's Temple back when I was in high school, and I ended up having to present a powerpoint for my entire school.

It freaked them out, but freaked me out even more. I had all the pictures, I had the "People's Temple" album that they recorded in the '70s...I had the videos of all those people the night before they died. I had the sound of Jim Jones telling them to kill themselves because the people "were coming".

It was scary to me and sometimes I still have nightmares about it. UGH

Sad Day

Yeah Stoney, that was a really scary day for America. Very scary. I think it was up there with Vietnam and Watergate, and the Iran Hostage Taking.

Kind of a let down. SPOILER -- as to finding out who is Dylan's father today.

The 70s provided a lot of

The 70s provided a lot of scary days for us young people. Since we didn't have very many tv stations, video games, and other sources of entertainment that are readily available to later generations to get away from it all, we had this steady stream of world disorder to face every day when we got home from school. Just to name a few, Nixon resigns, John Lennon is murdered, Elvis overdoses, the Vietnam warm, the gas and energy crisis', Watergate, Yuppies, Moonies, People's Temple, The PLO, Massacre at the Munich Olympics, civil wars and cue's all over Africa, South America, Middle East, Asia. Famin in Ethiopia. Anita Bryant and others attacking gays and lesbians.
Cass Elliott, Jimmie Hendrix, Janis Joplin, Jim Morrison, dead dead dead.
Even our entertainment was politically charged. All in the Family, Mash, One Life to Live and All My Children to name a few.
Now days we have uber amounts of places to escape what is going on around us.
Today is the anniversary of the planes crashing into the towers 9/11/01. A day that changed us fundamentally and perhaps permanently. But if we get tired of thinking about it, we can just watch Big Brother or Days of our Lives or play World of War Craft..... It is kind of nice to have those things to escape to. So what if today's children are less aware of things going on around them than we were? One thing is for certain, we didn't learn from our own mistakes and those of our parents. Knowing what has happened has not prevented it from happening again? So many things that are happening today, happened already when we were kids. No one learned a damn thing from it.

Mark, my friend gosh

Mark, my friend gosh everything you named I remembered growing up in the '70s, my teen years...Oops! Shock Age is just a number. Wink I wouldn't trade growing up in the seventies for nothing and being a teen in the world of the best decade. Times was so more liberal compared to now in many ways, the '60s turmoil made '70s quite mellow about ideas, gay rights was charging forward with Studio 54, gay themed movies and gay characters being on TV Soap, an episode of Family Willie's best friend turned out to be gay, All in the Family, Maude, Medical Center did a transgender episode where Robert Reed had a sex change, yes Mr. Brady, Christine Jorgensen the first sex change was everywhere on talk shows, Renee Richards, people were more relaxed (probably cause they were stoned, moi included Wink ) You had women's rights, and gay rights ERA gaining strength, politicians worked together and accomplished things, abortion made legal, the '70s music was more diverse with hard rock, punk rising up,new wave, disco was everywhere, hell everyone was dancing, Party it was a glorious time growing up and being part of this era and then Iran and arrival of Reagan Sad everything that had promise turned conservative and finally the start of GRIDS, well the party was over for many friends...their finality. Sad(

You are right we didn't have the video, internet (I wish we have that), basic broadcast stations but what we did live through the start of soap operas hitting their stride and being noticed. AW leading the way and was the leader of pack with their sultry stories...My God we had 16 soaps on the air and each had their own flavor not the generic bs we have today...
Soap storytelling was glorious in the '70s, Bill Bell creating YR, Agnes Nixon rocking the world with AMC & OLTL, P&G was king in soap industry with their soaps ATWT had Irna and the Dobsons as did GL in the late '70s who created the delicious Alan Spaulding and rape of spouse with Roger & Holly was unheard of and it was ripped from the headlines and AW had Paul & Harding...damn I'm weepy! Big smile

Some of the best soap stories was in the '70s then explode in the the early '80s, and then the focus groups came in the late '80s & into the '90s and it was the start of the end of great soap opera in telling long term stories...Sad as it is to look back what was...

Harlee there was so much

Harlee there was so much going on in the 70s! Yes and so much of it positive. But sometimes it seemed like I was living in a war zone with so much tension in both the world and my own family. We were children of our era and so were my parents. All those crazy events and social revolutions were dizzying at times. Soaps were one of my favorite things definitely about the 70s. From racing home every day in jr high to watch Sommerset to watching many new types of soaps created (How to Survive a Marriage and Ryan's Hope) to of course the golden age of Another World to this day is some of the best soap ever. And a special thought to Doug and Julie, one of my all time favorite couples who kept tongues a wagging for a decade. To Bill Bell coming into his own with Days and then Y&R. LOL when I was a kid, I was team Days and my girl cousins were team Y&R. Little did we know at that time that both were being penned by the same hand. Of course many of daytime's greatest icons were created then. Marlena Evans, Kay Chancelor, Erica Kane, just to name a few. Yes soaps were a refuge for me in a troubled world. They also taught me much about how to live in the world.

My age must fall somewhere

My age must fall somewhere between Harlee, hey mon and Mark's and that of Yoryla. I was born in the seventies so I don't really remember much from that time. Luckily, most of the great 60s and 70s TV series were in re-runs during the eighties so I got to see them.

I do remember the eighties. Except for some really great TV and other forms of entertainment, it was sort of a horrible, scary time. Maybe I remember it that way because I was in my teens and teenagers tend to exaggerate. Smile

Nothing like coming home from football or baseball practice back in the late 70s/early 80s, and watching Y&R and DAYS on the new invention of the VCR. Good times!

If you were lower middle

If you were lower middle class in the 1970s, your life was sh*t in the 70s, especially, if you owned a small business. That's why everyone in my family hated it. The interest rates on loans were crazy, plus, polyester does not look good on anyone over the age of 80.

It's almost as if Jill told Josh..."look...you need to come up with some way to connect my best boy to a core character. If not, I want you out of here."

I wouldn't be surprised if this was the straw that broke their relationship. I don't buy that Josh would make Dylan Nikki's son.

I hope we find out. Surely we'll get a JG interview soon. I hope the actual reason comes out.

The Icons of the 70s for me

The Icons of the 70s for me were of course Beverlee, Victoria Wyndom, and Susan Seaforth Hayes. Susan and Bill Hayes were so popular that they were on the cover of Time. They were also featured while the tv was playing in that over the top scene on Close Encounters of the Third Kind while Richard Dreyfuss was having his mental breakdown.

We have gay rights already?? lol we're getting there, but American Government hasn't done all they need to yet. Entertainment wise....we're there, but a long way off in real life.

Here's a toast to someday soon hopefully.... maybe when people realize there are much more important things to worry about than who loves whom. It really baffles me the energy put into this from the way right wing folks still to this day. Seems that would be dead last on the issue list IMO

They can't do anything about the abortion issue, so this is second best. This is the way they keep christians in bed with the money people. Geez I guess you can serve God and mammon. The right wing proves it every day....

Iris!!

IRIS! Actually the good thing is that at least Alexandra never changed, at least when Beverlee played her. Iris became almost a goody-two shoes when Beverlee went to 'Texas'. Iris was always best when she was playing off of Vivian trying to keep Dennis away from Paige, or Mac away from Rachel.
