Cant capture the screen shots, but...

Isnt Billy and Victoria's home a bit smaller than it seems on screen? Looks like a 2500 sq ft colonial in any neighborhood.

The Abbott mansion looks just like I pictures it, all lit up and all.

The Ranch looks a lot less rustic than I thought it would. Sharon, burn down that Ranch.

Billy and Vicki's house is the same exterior as it was when they were married outside of it. I'm glad THAT little bit of continuity is there.

The Abbott Mansion looks inviting and warm, just like I pictured it.

The ranch is okay...but it bothers me because it definitely doesn't look as big as I'd imagined, and it doesn't seem like there are gates/guards/other houses on the property...

The Ranch House

Yes it's small but so is South Fork and they are worth billions too. IT does bring some real life to the show now though.

Billy and Victoria's house is on Wisteria Lane and is also Beaver's house from Leave it to Beaver.

Ranch & Villy's Home

The Ranch looks bigger than what I pictured, and it looks more classic European, than country-rustic. It is loaded with chimneys, and all that stuff, in fact, too many fireplaces.

Villy's Home is too small for a woman who is worth a half-billion to live in. Ive heard of wanting to keep it REAL, and all that. But when my own house is bigger than Victoria Newman's, something hasta give.

The first time they showed

The first time they showed the ranch, it was from a different vantage point. The house was off to the right and if you paused the shot, it overlooked a vista (or something). So it really did look like a huge ranch with sprawling land. In my mind I'm thinking "security" is well down the road.

I like the shots, but they do need a little more camera movement and additional angles.

They do the day/night thing, but I want close ups and movement.

B&B has always been the best

B&B has always been the best at giving us great exterior shots and good set construction. Y&R, I'd put in second place, followed by GH. Days is definitely lacking in this area although it has improved a lot with those river scenes lately.

BB is a feast for the eyes

BB is a feast for the eyes when it comes to establishing shots. And they are lucky since the show is set in LA. LOTS more opportunity there, and they really take advantage of it.

Let's see what GC looks like in spring, summer and fall. I lived in WI for 24 years, so I have HIGH expectations going forward!

I really do have to give YR credit for that accident "set". The snow looked real (dirty), and they had the terrain pretty accurate I think.

I guess they have some budget to spend again.

Billy and Victoria's house

Billy and Victoria's house doesn't look like the one they did the location shoot when they got married. That one was on a street. This one in the shots is all by itself.

The ranch

I have liked all the outside looks especially the Abbott mansion, it looks as I would imagine in my mind's eye.

Victoria\Billy looks the same so that was a nice touch.

The Newman ranch I was somewhat disappointed to be honest. It should be spiraling with lots of countryside to the look. Remember the days back in the very early & mid '80s when they would show EB riding a horse outside on this huge ranch and Nikki inside practicing piano... Wink Nikki's piano playing was stopped once again and hopefully this returns.

Just wait when we see Dildo's warehouse loft, you know it will be the biggest view for JFP's beloved no talent. Grrrr!

I hope they take us back to the Chancellor Mansion, and its exterior. It will look like English finery.

I like the idea of adding the exterior shots, but the only thing that's jarring to me is each home is perfectly centered on the screen with NOTHING around them. It makes them look at bit fake.

Y&R Is Missing its great music that was part of the show for yrs

Y&R MUSIC >Looks are one thing…but Y&R just sounds DEAD. What is missing in these episodes is the MUSIC from days of old. The show used to sound SO DAMN GOOD.. AWESOME, in fact. But now, Jill Phelps has totally screwed that up. It is the missing beat to give the show its heart. Sounds awful.

I like the exterior shots.

I like the exterior shots. It's a nice touch to the scene. I would like more movement but where Y&R is concerned I've learned to appreciate the baby steps. It's something! I think B&B does the best job. The show has that slick, expensive look Y&R used to have.

aveRex; While I think the music has gotten better, I agree the old stuff was in a league of it's own. I actually have a friend who stopped watching because of the music. He noted a lack of energy in scenes due to the change and the show wasn't keeping his interest. I like scenes sans music at times for dramatic effect but not something to be done on a regular basis. I think they continue to miss a lot of opportunities to enhance the drama by not using music...or good music at that. I hope we never have to hear that Delia, exorcist theme again. It was so overplayed and lost it's appeal quickly.

JFP is like those designers on Project Runway who are told they need to edit what they are doing. By trying to do too much her vision hasn't appealed to many fans. I'm happy the writing is improving but I admit I would never be disheartened if news ever broke that she was let go. I think the show really needs someone who can mine classic elements with contemporary ones. Giving a show a facelift shouldn't involve dismantling it to the bones and rebuilding.

Photos and the music

For my long time Y&R viewers do all you remember when they would show an opening shot of the ranch it would be a picture of a barn and you would hear some horse noise.

I remember in the mid 90s when Paul & Victor was looking for Mari Jo Mason and she stopped by The Abbott House and the picture is totally different from the photo shots they have on today. Back a decade ago when Jill was to break up Billy & Mac; Jill was running and they did some exterior shots of the house which was filmed outside Pittsburgh, PA.

The shots are awful and the music does take away from the luster of the show. Y&R had the best score. These stupid contemporary music theme suck and JFP is trying to put her on stamp on the show-

The DC crew made fun of these

The DC crew made fun of these yesterday, and truthfully I don't think they are bad at all. Right now it's winter so they look all the same. Maybe if we get some tree movement with leaves? Wink

It's a nice touch as long as they continue to try some new things out.

My only complaint is that I'd like to see some close ups and panning during the shots.

We had an aerial shot on Tuesday, and the movement was nice to see.

I like them.

Yes, they did think the writing was improved. So that say's something. I myself think that it has improved vastly. The exterior shots as well as interior shots are great. The delivery of the lines are on point from the whole cast. Today's is awesome so far with Jill and Billy's interaction. I guess its just each individual persons opinion.

SoapA...Like bobby states above, yes they did say that in the past week or so they enjoyed it.

What shocked me more than that was that they dissed GH a bit for some stories just being "too much" right now.

It's worth a listen.

I try not to say too much about GH. But I read about it most everywhere and I just don't get the appeal of the outlandish stuff that show sometimes highlights.

I know they can do drama too, but it seems to take a back seat to the cartoon.

I agree that GH is a cartoon. When Gloria Monty was EP, her story lines were really out there but she also was able to deliver the drama. As far as the exterior shots of the Houses on Y&R, Im so underwhelmed. I am an architect and have designed far nicer houses than Genoa City's wealthiest are supposedly living in. Y&R needs to bump up their sets, the only two that are really good in the Chancellor Living room and the Abbots house.

I have to clarify that I've

I have to clarify that I've always adored most of the female characters on GH. The actresses are some of the strongest in daytime. (Lynn Herring, Maura West, Leslie Charleson, Laura Wright, Finola Hughes, etc.)

It's just that the stories in which the writers put them have me rolling my eyes at their sheer ridiculousness at times. Smile

I have to defend the story

I think the show is in a good place i like most of gh stories not loving sam's but its the silas/calab/mcbain thing that is getting to me more than anything oh...Caleb killed or tried to kill his wife its a given...Not feeling Todd/Franco but again its me not really the story per say just see Todd . Im ready for the victor story and the mob war..lucy./kevin/scott is enjoyable gives us old fans something and it is true to the characters lucy if very flighty and her and scott have history.

No snow at Los Angeles' General Hospital either. I lived a few blocks north of that hospital for over 50 years and I can tell you, they will never get a shot with snow anywhere near that place! They need to find another hospital for their winter shots.

It's actually looking better

I'm not sure what's going on but the shots this past week are looking like they are getting better but maybe it's me. To me when debuted looked like CGI and not realistic as BB but this past week it truly looked more soften, real with a fresher look.

Lots of them too! ^^^

I think the movement with the police cars/SWAT helped too.

They need to keep fine tuning them though, cause BB (the younger sister) blows them away.

Spring can be gorgeous in Wisconsin, so I'm expecting big things.

It's been mentioned a lot in

It's been mentioned a lot in different interviews that the NAME came from the real Genoa City, by where the Bells used to vacation. But the town was not patterned after the real Genoa City.

So I don't expect it to look the same or be the same...
