3 Years, 3 Quartermaines Remain

Over the past three years General Hospital has made killing off a Quartermaine during sweeps a full fledged sport.  Three years ago there were eleven members (not including Jason Morgan who hasn't been written as a Q since he lost his memory, except to work the mob into the funerals of Alan and Lila) of the Quartermaine family. Now there are three.

AJ was snuffed out by a pillow during sweeps in 2005. Justice was killed off, crammed in a car trunk and then didn't even receive an on screen funeral at the end of sweeps in 2006. Then Ned Ashton, his ex wife Lois Cerillo, and daughter Brooklyn (all important members of the Q family) were written off the show. In February of 2007, during sweeps, TPTB killed off Alan Quartermaine with a heart attack. In September of 2007 they wrote Dillon Q off the canvas. Later that fall during November sweeps they killed off Emily Q, rather than recasting her.

Fan uproar "saved" Alan and TPTB brought him back as a ghost to haunt Tracy Q but even with Alan still on screen TPTB did nothing for the 25th Anniversary of Alan and Monica this fall. Adding insult to injury, TPTB didn't even have Edward or Monica make an appearance at the naming of a foundation in Alan's memory during the 2007 sweeps that they used to kill off his daughter Emily.

Write General Hospital!

It is time we the fans do something to save this beloved family from extinction. The single most important thing you can do is write to each of the remaining cast members who comprise the Quartermaine Family i.e. John Ingle (Edward), Leslie Charleson (Monica), and Jane Elliot (Tracy).  Even though Stuart Damon now portrays a ghost it is extremely important to write him as well.

I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE my Quartermaines. I have been a fan since 1980, thanks to my late Grandmother. I was instantly drawn to the Quartermaines, and their dysfunction, and I was 13 at the time! LOL! Alan, Monica, Edward and Lila, were my world!! I even imagined I was a Quartermaine in my youth! LOL! I still wanna be a Quartermaine!

I was so livid when they killed off Alan Quartermiane. I went into combat mode, as GH had broken the last straw! I felt really badly for Stuart Damon and all I could do was think of him. All I wanted to do was hug him, and my heart was very heavy for him. He is a true Prince! I was so in love with him at a very young age, and I guess you can say that I still carry a torch for my Prince! He is so gracious to his fans. I have a pic that was signed to me, by him, and it reads, With Love, Stuart Damon!

I also support Leslie Charleson (Monica) and John Ingle. (Edward) These people are very special to me, as they have been a very special part of my life for years and years! I also have signed pics of them.

I want my Q's front and center! STOP killing them off. When they go, I go! Believe that GH!

I have a group that supports Leslie and Stuart. If you are a fan of theirs, or the Q's, come on by!

I love my Quartermaines! And by the way, GH, BRING BACK ALAN!

Core families and soap operas (or daytime dramas as some may insist on calling them) go hand in hand. Without families, there's no real drama. C'mon we all know too well especially around the holidays and hanging around family members, the drama intensifies and we can't wait to leave! It's the origin of love/hate relationships: can't wait to see them because you've missed them but then the joyfulness wears off and you can't wait for them to go home! This is such a basic principle that I find it so bizarre and unbelievable that Mr. Frons doesn't "get it." I think he does and just chooses to ignore it. Shame on him for destroying the Quartermaine Family! This is the one family that we could always count on to bring on the drama when we yearned for great storytelling and belly laughter when we were in serious need for comic relief!

The Q's, especially Alan and Monica (brilliantly portrayed, I might add...by Stuart Damon and Leslie Charleson for over 30 years!) are the only reason I've remained a faithful viewer since 1980. It's a travesty what the current regime has done to desicrate GH's only core family...and for what??? More MOB??!! It's "GENERAL HOSPITAL," for God sake, not the Sopranos!!

I am only hanging on out of loyalty and respect for Ms. Charleson hoping beyond all hope that by killing off half of "Monica's" family TPTB will actually realize they can use this to catapult Ms. Charleson off the back burner and front and center in a storyline worthy of her talent. There have been so many missed opportunites to show Monica greiving...show Alan (who is NOT a conscience...he's a GHOST! I mean, why else would Monica sense him or would Alan tell Tracy to tell Monica where something she is looking for is???!!!) The writing has been rediculous! I can only hope TPTB will STOP THIS SLOW TORTURE and make all this mess worth it by at leawst giving the remaining half of Gh's original super-couple (Monica) something to do after all she's been through.

As a younger viewer its ridiculous that TPTB kill off my fav and the CORE family of General Hospital. I will so quit watching if they kill anymore off. I don't even watch everyday just because i know the Q's won't be on so it sucks majorly. They need to BRING THE QUARTERMAINES BACK!!!!!!!!!!!!! Let alan haunt monica that would be so awesome or let him be hiding and bring him back so they can be the best couple gh has cuz right now there are no good couples really. The only one that is decent is Luke and Tracy who happens to be a quartermaine. I love Monica and Alan They are GH without them my tv won't be tuning into GH at ALL

The Quartermaines are the first family of General Hospital. Since 1977 they have been an integral part of GH. How quickly the current writers forget the history of the show! Let us not forget that both Leslie Charleson and Stuart Damon were brought on to help save GH from cancellation and save it, they did. The Alan, Monica, Rick and Lesley storyline catapulted the show to number one where it proudly sat for years. We all know that GH hasn't boasted that title for quite some time now. In fact, the multitalented Leslie Charleson(Monica)is the only reason that I continue to watch the show as well. While Stuart Damon remains as a "conscience" (please, he is a ghost!), I fear that it is only a matter of time before the writers stop using his enormous talent. After the wrongful killing of Alan Quartermaine and the destruction of one of daytimes most entertaining, complicated and lovable couples, it has been horrendous to watch the injustice given to the Quartermaine characters. They have been backburned and not given the front and center attention that they deserve. The utter lack of Monica's grief and unimportance of Alan's death in this year's past storylines is an insult to both the characters and the actors who portray them.
Gone are the days where there is balance on GH. If it isn't mob related, it isn't important, it seems. Daytime dramas as a genre have always been appealing because their stories are based on a history of characters and families, how their stories are interwoven and the common thread that ties them together, in the case of GH, it was the hospital.
I can only hold onto the old adage that "history repeats itself" and someone makes it happen. Save the Qs!!!

I got hooked on GH back in the late 70's as a young girl. Why? Mainly because of that whacky, dysfunctional Quartermaine family! They were so fun to watch. There was nothing better than seeing the Quartermaine clan bicker, scheme, screw up and make up!

To me GH wouldn't be GH without the Quartermaines. I will continue to watch until the last of them is gone. It seems at the rate they're dropping, I won't be watching too much longer. That will be a very sad day indeed!!

BRING THE QUARTERMAINES BACK PLEASE!!

The Quartermaines are the heart and soul of General Hospital and they have been for 30 years. The casual dissinigration of this loveable family sickens me. Alan and Monica in particular captured my heart the first time I saw them on GH in about 1980 and I fell madly in love with them both. They are the sole reason I remained a loyal viewer all these years. Getting rid of Alan Quartermaine was senseless. It contributed nothing to any storyline they were doing and it didn't even catapult Monica into any sort of grief-related storyline. The rest of the Q's hold a special place too - from Edward to Tracey, even Emily. The dynamics of this crew, although always dysfunctional, were full of comedy, fierce loyalty and love.
I think TPTB at GH ought to be deeply ashamed for having contributed to the destruction of the pivotal landmark of GH. Replacing the Q's with mob violence is the worst mistake ever made in the history of this once fine show. I implore the writers and producers to save Monica, Edward and Tracy and bring back the demised Quartermaines, especially Alan. The show will thrive and prosper once again.

I have been a General Hospital fan since the early 70's, I had my favorites but through the years they soon disappeared from the scene - but I kept watching the show diligently and in 1977 I was blown away by Leslie Charleson's portrayal of Monica and soon to follow was Stuart Damon as Alan. They became my favorite couple of all time on GH and I grew to love the entire Quartermaine family; even with their zaniness and faults. They have made me laugh and cry many time over the past 30 years and it makes me sad to know that they are slowly being killed off - two Quartermaines killed within 9 months of each other is a travesty. Quit this insanity of picking them off one by one, better yet bring Alan back to life and back into the arms of his loving wife.
