Hollyoaks: The Loft Fire Promo

The week Hollyoaks fans have been waiting for is finally here. It is time for the triumphant return of fan favorite and super soap villain Clare Devaine (Gemma Bissix), the demise of Warren Fox (Jamie Lomas) and so much more. Hollyoaks executive producer Brian Kirkwood leaves the soap the way he started, with a bang.

What are you most excited about this week?

Elizabeth Hubbard Goes Dutch

Elizabeth Hubbard (Lucinda, As the World Turns) is going to play a guest role on the Dutch soap Goede Tijden Slechte Tijden (Good Times Bad Times). She's going to play Sair Poindexter. She's the mother of the character Irene Huygens (played by Anita Donk). Sair is an American sexologist.

Elizabeth is looking forward to her gig at the most popular Dutch soap:

I am very excited to be joining such a distinguished cast on such a popular show. I already feel welcomed by my new Dutch family and I look forward to all the upcoming challenges. This is an actors dream and I can't wait to get started.

Besides the mother of Irene, Sair is also the grandmother of Ronja (Alexandra Alphenaar) and Dex (Emiel Sandtke). The kids can't wait to see their grandmother again. Irene is less enthusiastic. She has a love/hate relationship with her mother. Elizabeth starts filming on Monday, June 1st. Her first airdate is Thursday, July 2nd.

This blogger is thrilled with this news. Elizabeth Hubbard is one of my favorite actresses. To be able to see her on my favorite soap is going to be great.

Neighbours To Air Lesbian Storyline

The Australian soap opera Neighbours is set to air it's second lesbian storyline, just mere weeks after Home and Away began airing it's first lesbian storyline. The scenes which are due to air later this month see Donna (Margot Robbie) and new Ramsay Street resident Sunny (Hany Lee Choi) lock lips in what producers are calling an "impulsive kiss" after a love letter scandal is exposed.

This is the soap's second attempt at a lesbian storyline. It's first attempt was in 2004 between schoolgirls Lana Crawford (Bridget Neval) and Sky Mangel (Stephanie McIntosh).

This storyline is sure to cause plenty of controversy Down Under, as the soap airs in a 6:30 p.m. family friendly timeslot. It will be interesting to see what the reactions will be. Stay tuned to Daytime Confidential as this story develops.

British Soap Awards Interviews

Neighbours Ratings

Congratulations is in order for the Australian soap Neighbours. For the first time since July, 2007, the Channel Ten soap broke the one million viewer mark on Monday with 1,011,000 people tuning in, making it the 16th most watch show that night.

While that may not seem like a lot of viewers in comparison to the U.S. soaps, this is really good for Neighbours and it goes to show that if you put money into your product and the product is actually good, people will watch.

In contrast, Home and Away pulled in 1,195,000 viewers and came in 10th place for the night.
