Delia Abbott Fights For Her Life on The Young and the Restless (SNEAK PEEK)

The last three creative regimes at CBS Daytime's The Young and the Restless have the blood of core Abbott family members on their hands, all for little more than temporary ratings stunts. Lynn Marie Latham killed off family patriarch John Abbott (Jerry Douglas). Maria Arena Bell iced granddaughter Colleen Carlton (a pre-Pretty Little Liars Tammin Sursok), not to mention perennial Abbott-in-law Brad (Don Diamont).

Now, showrunner Jill Farren Phelps (who has executive produced one show after another where core families were gutted beyond repair or recognition) and former head writer Josh Griffith have slaughtered little Delia, not only an Abbott, but the granddaughter of original character, Jill Foster (Jess Walton). Did I mention Delia is also the child of Kate Valentine aka Chloe Mitchell (Elisabeth Hendrickson), herself the goddaughter of Katherine Chancellor (the late Jeanne Cooper), whose death the canvas is still reeling from?

Sony TV and CBS Daytime signed off on the death of a child from more than one core family on this soap, so soon after the demise of Kay. Additionally, beloved firecracker Phyllis Newman (Michelle Stafford) was recently sent off to Georgia with porridge drooling down her face.

JFP and Co. essentially were given the greenlight to crib from her near-identical oversight of Jake Spencer's death on General Hospital, complete with another ailing child in need of a transplant and an alcoholic step-grandparent driving on the same road the doomed child was on.

Hey, I said I was going to be positive about Y&R for a month, I didn't say I couldn't state the facts. Watch this week's Y&R teaser below.

Check Out Billy "Killer" Miller in a Hostage Crisis on Castle! (SNEAK PEEK)

The Young and the Restless fans who've been itching to see Genoa City bad boy Billy Miller tear it up on Castle, are in for a treat! ABC has released a clip of the two-time Daytime Emmy winner's guest spot on the hit series.

Miller plays Mickey Gerhardt, a hot-headed Wall Street banker caught up in a hostage situation with crime novelist Richard Castle (Nathan Fillion). Take a sneak peek as Castle tries to help the kidnapper clear her name of murder charges, after the jump! READ MORE

Jill Farren Phelps is Back to Her Kill-Happy Self on The Young and the Restless (PROMO)

Michael Baldwin (Christian LeBlanc) and Lauren Fenmore (Tracey Bregman) might as well rent a studio apartment over the Genoa City Police Department, since practically all their storylines end up there. This week on The Young and the Restless, the lawyer and his glamour puss wife are once again having the book thrown at them, by their best friend Paul (Doug Davidson). Can't these people ever just have Bunco night?

Elsewhere in Genoa City, Chelsea (Melissa Claire Egan) worries Adam (Michael Muhney) will cut her out of Connor's life and tragedy enters Billy's (Billy Miller) orbit. I'll give Jill Farren Phelps this, she took longer than usual to start mowing down legacy characters likes stray blades of grass. Here's hoping the carnage will at least give the canvas some meaty material. Watch this week's The Young and the Restless promo after the jump!

Summer's 10 Worst Soap Couples

No. 10: Adam and Melanie, The Young and the Restless

Can someone please explain why anyone at The Young and the Restless thought having Adam (Michael Muhney) sleep with a newbie lucky charm like Melanie (Erin Chambers)—who then accused him of rape—would provide riveting television? Anyone? Anyone? We didn't think so.
