Frontiers-In LA Magazine Names Crystal Chappell Soap Newsmaker of the Year
Submitted by Jillian Bowe on January 2, 2010 - 1:08am
Going into the New Year for Gina on Venice, what can web fans look forward to?
Crystal Chappell: Gina will meet somebody new… Kit Tracy played by Lesli Kay. She is from London and it’s somebody Gina had met before and she takes a shine to her. Then there is Ani, who has met somebody, Lara. But the two of them are still connected, and still coming together and trying to figure out what their relationship is. They have not completely broken things off. Also, you will meet Gina’s father. In the New Year that is what you will be seeing; the reason why Gina has the enormous intimacy issues that she has, and the reason she can’t be with Ani. The part is played brilliantly by Jordan Clarke. Season one should play out through mid- February, and hopefully, when we shoot season two, we can get it out sometime in mid- March.

Diehard Fans Help Crystal Chappell Fund Second Season of Venice!
Submitted by Jamey Giddens on December 16, 2009 - 8:03am
The online soap opera may have aired only one episode, but Crystal Chappell's Venice has already made enough money to fund a full second season of the serial! Chappell tells Soap Opera Digest purchases fans made from Venice's online store funded the sapphic sudser's premiere season, and that enough money was made just from the initial airing of Venice to produce a second season. Someone hire Chappell to run a daytime division already!
According to the article, the official Venice website has had over 24 million hits since September, and saw 225,000 unique visitors in just the first week of December, which would explain those crashes. Never fear; La Chappell has hired a Colorado firm to add four new servers for all her rampant fans, the actress/producer tells Digest.

Ex- DAYS Star Deidre Hall Puts Rumors of Crystal Chappell Feud to Rest
Submitted by Jamey Giddens on December 15, 2009 - 10:17am

In a blockbuster interview with TV Guide Canada's Nelson Branco, ousted Days of Our Lives legend Deidre Hall (ex-Marlena) finally speaks out on her exit from the series she helped keep on the air for decades. Hall also addressed those pesky rumors of a feud between herself and Crystal Chappell (Carly), which have followed both actresses since Chappell originally left DAYS in 1993.
TVG: Speaking of relationships, in a recent interview with Crystal Chappell [Ed. Note: click here for the interview], I asked her about the reported feud between you both. She said, “If there were issues with Deidre, I didn’t know about them. I would guess that she didn’t like me very much, but I could be wrong about that. I was a troubled young person. I was overworked. I made a lot of problems for myself. I was suicidal. I was in a very, very bad place. I left, not because I thought I’d be a big star; I left because I needed to get my health back. As for the rifts, I don’t know. I was very miserable to be around at that time. I spent most of time in between DAYS and One Life in therapy.” Do you have a reaction?

Crystal and Jamey One on One for Curve Magazine!
Submitted by Jamey Giddens on December 4, 2009 - 4:35pm
Venice show runner and star extraordinaire (She also plays that one character I sorta like on DAYS) Crystal Chappell recently gave a revealing interview to Curve for the publication's upcoming March 2010 issue. Here's a sneak peek, just in time for Venice's premiere episode tonight! I think you guys might recognize the author's name...
Otalia fans were devastated when Guiding Light’s cancellation was announced. Now you're doing Venice, a web soap featuring a gay couple played by you and Leccia. Was this inspired by Otalia fans?
It was totally inspired by them. I was completely invested in Otalia and always will be. I couldn’t quite let it go. It didn’t feel right. I had so many people writing to me telling me some of the terrible things that happened to them being gay, and also the really joyful things. So I went to my friend Kimmy [Turrisi], who is a writer, and said, “I wanna do a web soap about a gay woman. She’s out and proud of who she is, so it won’t be about her struggling with her sexuality and I want it to not just be about her, but about her community and family”. She came back to me with these amazing characters. I approached Jessie [Leccia] and she was like, “Well sure, I’ll do it!” She was just as committed to Otalia as I was. We were so inspired by this story and the hope it gave soap fans. With so many headlines about soaps dying it was nice to see this kind of passion for a couple and a story. I knew I couldn’t let it die. READ MORE
