Gina Tognoni Hosts Hoboken Shelter Event

Gina Tognoni (Kelly, One Life to Live; ex-Dinah, Guiding Light) may be off the air for the moment, but that is not keeping her out of the public eye. According to her official Facebook page, Tognoni will host The Hoboken Shelter Sock & Jock Drive at McSwiggan's Pub on Thursday, December 17 from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. You can enjoy 25-cent beers, but only if you donate a new pair of men's socks or underwear, so bring plenty with you.
This year we want to give back to the Hoboken community we love and have lived in for several years. One of our favorite charities in the area is The Hoboken Shelter. The Hoboken Shelter’s mission is to be a community partnership that transforms lives by providing meals for the hungry, shelter for the homeless, and services to assist those who are in need of housing.

Information on McSwiggan's Pub can be found HERE.

Venice The Series Promo Debuts!

Crystal Chappell's highly anticipated web series, Venice, premiered its first promo today. The series is now set to debut on December 4, 2009. Be sure to check out the teaser above and visit the official website for more information.

On Location at Crystal Chappell's Venice

Michael Fairman went on location for the filming of Venice, Crystal Chappell's highly-anticipated web series, to get some scoops and previews for Advocate.com. During the visit he chatted with Chappell, co-star Jessica Leccia, writer-producer Kim Turrisi, Nadia Bjorlin and Gina Tognoni. Leccia shared the following.

Jessica Leccia (Chapell’s former love interest on GL) told me the character she plays in Venice, Ani, is far removed from her days in Springfield on the canceled CBS soap.

“Everything is pretty much different with Ani. They are night and day. Ani is way more with it than Natalia. She has a career and is goal-oriented and is on the pulse of everything. She is really busy and human and in love ... and all the things that come with that. She is way savvier than Natalia. Ani is going to be a force to be reckoned with and is more of a go-getter to get what she wants. Gina may be what she wants, and that is her big dilemma in this whole thing ... loving somebody and not having it the way she would like it to be.”

DC Interview: Guiding Light's Gina Tognoni Dishes on Her "Exciting" Return to One Life to Live

From the moment it was announced that Guiding Light was going to be cancelled, all eyes were on Gina Tognoni. Everyone in the industry was wondering where the talented beauty, who had quickly made the oft recast role of carny-turned-vixen Dinah Marler her very own, would end up. Would she mercifully go to The Young and the Restless as a recast for Victoria Newman, or possibly a new character? What about that buzzed about, psycho surrogate role on Y&R's sister soap The Bold and the Beautiful (that role will be played by General Hospital spitfire Sarah Brown)? In the end, the newlywed Tognoni (she married Joseph Chiarello this past May) decided to keep doing soaps in the city, and opted to return to her breakout role as Dorian Lord's spunky niece Kelly on One Life to Live.

Daytime Confidential's Melodie Aikels and Mike Jubinville caught up with Tognoni at the recent So Long Springfield event in Pittsburgh. In between fielding the feverish adoration of droves of mourning Guiding Light fans, Tognoni was gracious enough to provide DC with an interview, sharing her thoughts about how Dinah's storyline light went out and how "excited" she is to be staying put in Gotham by way of Llanview.

Daytime Confidential: Now that Guiding Light is over, how do you feel about Dinah and Mallet ending up together in Europe?

Gina Tognoni: I thought the that was so sweet. You know, I did. I liked working with Shayne, Jeff Branson, so much but it was bittersweet at times, because I also loved working with Rob Bogue [Mallet]. So it was just kind of like, "Okay, you know, both are just fabulous!" It's just so hard to really say which pairing was my favorite and should have ended up together. READ MORE
