Three Things to be Young and Restless About Right Now!

We soap lovers can be as scathing as the most hardcore sports fan when it seems our favorite daytime players are asleep on the bench or the writing team is making bad plays. Though I find myself cursing at my TV for some of the recent shenanigans on The Young and the Restless, it’s a reason why I still tune in, and the good must be acknowledged. Giving props where they are due, I want to speak on three things that I’m loving right now about Y&R.

You Decide: Should Lauren Get to Know Jill as a Sister?

Katherine Chancellor (Jeanne Cooper) didn’t have to shell out for pyrotechnics this Fourth of July, because the fireworks were in full effect courtesy of the ever-embattled Jill (Jess Walton) and spitfire Lauren (Tracey Bregman). Last week on The Young and the Restless, the sirens discovered that they had far more in common than their business acumen and love of powerful men, as a DNA test confirmed that they are half-sisters.

While Jill embraced the idea of having a biological sibling and wanted to bond immediately, Lauren did not reciprocate the warm and fuzzy feelings. The redhead told Jill in no uncertain terms that she intended to keep her father’s memory, and only child status, firmly in tact and had no interest in a close relationship. Jill, who has always craved a sense of belonging, responded to Lauren’s rejection by legally taking the Fenmore name and investigating her rights to the family fortune. Given Jill’s reputation, and considering that Lauren used to be quite the mean girl back in the gap, both have good reason for their respective attitudes. You decide: Should Lauren show Jill a little sisterly love?

Yes. Lauren should drop the ice queen routine and accept Jill as her sister.

David Hasselhoff Heads Back To Y&R

David Hasselhoff
is making his way back to Genoa City. According to Entertainment Weekly, the actor will reprise the role of Willian "Snapper" Foster, younger brother of Jill (Jess Walton) for a storyline that will appear onscreen in June.  Says Hasselhoff,

In 1976, Bill Bell, creator of America’s No. 1 soap opera, took a chance on a young and very green actor,” Hasselhoff said in a statement given exclusively to EW.com. “Playing Snapper in 850 shows during the six years I appeared molded my craft, my attitude and my work ethic. Being asked to come back to appear in several episodes gives me a chance to say thanks, as I have an amazing amount of respect and heartfelt emotion for Bill, his family and my time on Young and the Restless. I just hope I can remember all those lines.

Along with Hasselhoff, Wings Hauser will also return to The Young and the Restless as big brother Greg Foster. READ MORE

Y&R's Stephen Nichols on Tucker vs. Kay: "I Am Going to Get Her"

On Air On Soaps' Michael Fairman dished with The Young and the Restless' new catch (thank you Babs!) Stephen Nichols on what viewers can expect with Tucker's plot for long lost mama Katherine Chancellor (Jeanne Cooper).

MICHAEL: So we can safely assume that the conflict and confrontations between Katherine Chancellor and her son, Tucker, will continue? He is out for revenge on his mother!

STEPHEN: Yes, he is out for revenge on his mother. I mean any kid that was put in an orphanage at birth, and whose mother put him there and never looked back, would feel resentful of that. So yeah, I am going to get her.

Flashback: Abbotts In Crisis

Whether you are a crazy woman on the loose firing 3 bullets into the heart of a Genoa City villain, a woman admitted to a loony bin and giving birth to a child at the same time, or an Abbott family member on life support, The Young and the Restless has had it all over the last month. Ratings might not be proving favorable for Y&R, but the writing quality, and the acting, is outstanding. If you had to ask me who I thought deserved the chocolates, I'd have two words - Beth Maitland portraying Traci Abbott. READ MORE

Y&R: A "Chance" Encounter

Take a quick peek at Phillip IV, aka Chance (John Driscoll) onscreen debut.

Katherine and Jill Find Out Phillip is Gay on Y&R

Last week Phillip (Thom Bierdz) revealed "his truth" to Nina (Tricia Cast). Today he revealed to Jill (Jess Walton) and Katherine (Jeanne Cooper) he is gay. In scenes at the Chancellor mansion, he told them he was forced to leave because he couldn't be what they wanted and that he didn't fit in.

Katherine didn't give an inch, asking why he "can't be honest" and "help them learn and accept who he is." Pointing at Phillip, she told him he "took the cowards way out" and "compounded it a hundred times over by sending Cane to take his place." Jill was no slouch either, telling Phillip he made Katherine believe she had done the "unspeakable" in giving away Jill's baby.

Even after this Phillip maintained that Cane "helped them get past it" and that "through him I was finally able to to make you guys happy." Her voice trembling in a mix of anger and pain Katherine responded "Two bloody years of happiness versus 20 years of loss," she continued "do you really think that is a fair trade?"

Do you believe Phillip's reasoning and motivation for sending Cane?
