In an interview with TV Guide Canada's Nelson Branco Days of our Live’s Crystal Chappell and One Life to Live’s Jessica Leccia talk Otalia, the upcoming second season of Venice, Leccia joining One Life to Live and share their reaction to OLTL getting rid of Kish.
TVG: Were you upset when One Life wrote out fledgling gay super-couple, Kish, off the canvas due to what ABC claims was an unfavorable reaction?
CC: Oh, of course. There isn’t a lot of LGBT representation out there now. It had a huge impact. I don’t know the reasons for their decision. I would imagine everyone is disappointed.
JL: I think the problem is after the set-up, the follow-up with gay characters is always difficult. Once you go there, creating a real story for gay characters, well, it’s hard [to fulfill the happily-ever-after]. I know that’s what happened with our story on GL. In order to make a gay couple real, you have to go all the way. And some viewers are uncomfortable with that prospect.
Daytime Confidential's Jillian Bowe just called from the set of One Life to Live and confirms that former Guiding Light star Jessica Leccia is coming to Llanview, in the recurring role of Nate Salinger's (Lenny Platt) mother Inez. Leccia's first OLTL air date is June 18.
Former Guiding Light star Jessica Leccia and One Life to Live’s Gina Tognoni turned out for Ricky Paull Goldin’s Seeing vs. Believing viewing party at Stanton Public in NYC. The TLC special aired on May 2, but if you missed it, you can find out more at its official website. See more photos from the viewing party after the jump.
