Kristian Alfonso Reflects on 30 Years as DAYS' Hope and That Falcon Crest Stint

One half of my all-time favorite soap supercouple is celebrating quite the milestone. Thirty years ago this month, Kristian Alfonso made her debut as fiery society princess Hope Williams on Days of Our LivesWe Love Soaps' Roger Newcomb caught up with the ravishing brunette to discuss her tenure in Salem, U.S.A.  Check out a few excerpts after the jump! Why Hope Needs to Let Vargas Break Her Back on Days of Our Lives

There may be no greater task in soapdom than existing as the remaining half of a mega popular supercouple. As a rule, fans have a hard time seeing characters that represent 50 percent of a beloved squish name moving on. What generally happens when one half of a famed pairing leaves the show, is their former screen partner is either left dwindling in the fictional winds, or paired off with someone else with little forethought (Remember Days of Our Lives' Kayla and Shane?)

As the ultimate fan of DAYS' Bo (Peter Reckell) and Hope (Kristian Alfonso)—this used to be my cellphone ringtone—I've held out hope that TPTB would come to terms with Reckell, so that Beauregard could finally come downstairs from tucking Ciara in bed, or wherever he is, and reunite with his Fancy Face. Since that doesn't appear to be happening any time soon, I have come to the bittersweet realization that it's time for my fav-o-rite Salem, U.S.A. heroine to move on with her soap operatic life. DAYS' Cousin Julie to Gabi: "GIRL, You Didn't Know Yo Man Was SHANKED in The Big House?!"

Ya gotta love a well-meaning Cousin Julie (Susan Seaforth Hayes) on Days of Our Lives. On Wednesday's episode, one-half of Salem's first supercouple revealed to Gabi (Camila Banus) that Nick (Blake Berris) had been stabbed in prison! Before Hope's (Kristian Alfonso) half-sister/stepmother could spill too much Brady Pub tea, Nick showed up.

Speaking of Hope, The Fancy-Faced One got all up in Nicole's (Arianne Zucker) boo-tah for trying to frame Kristen (Eileen Davidson), by snatching up those Titan files from dumb bulb Brady's (Eric Martsolf) laptop. Kristen had other things on her mind, namely trying to get Brady to jump the broom with her!

Elsewhere in Salem, U.S.A., while Sami (Alison Sweeney) attempted to hash things out with Rafe (Galen Gering), her boy Will (Chandler Massey) was a' flashin' back over those shirtless, bedtime rituals he used to share with Sonny (Freddie Smith). Watch Wednesday's DAYS recap vid below! READ MORE

Should Rafe and Hope Hook Up on Days of Our Lives?

With Bo (Peter Reckell) out of the picture, literally, Hope (Kristian Alfonso) has been spending a lot of time meddling in other people’s lives. Interestingly, her path keeps crossing Salem’s other meddler extraordinaire—no, I’m not talking about Maggie (Suzanne Rogers) or Jennifer (Melissa Reeves)—Rafe (Galen Gering).

Both Hope and Rafe have been a bit bland as of late, but maybe a torrid affair is what the doctor prescribed to make them more interesting? What would their squish name be, Rope? Of course a rope might be what fans wanted them hung from if they lack chemistry, so maybe a better squish name should be found.

Would you like to see Rafe and Hope together?

Wishful Storytelling: Sami's Teen Rapist Alan "Catfishes" Will on Days of Our Lives

With buzz growing about the upcoming versions of All My Children and One Life to Live possibly delving into edgier, ripped-from-the-headlines stories, my brain has been working on overdrive about how the remaining four daytime soaps could also benefit from such a shift in storytelling. Don't get me wrong, I love a good return-from-the-dead as much as the next suds lover, but at some point, when you've seen one — you've seen 738,265 of 'em.

Awhile back on Twitter, I posted how I would love to see Sami's (Alison Sweeney) teen rapist Alan (originally played by Paul Kersey) return to seek his warped brand of revenge on Days of Our Lives. Back in 1995, Lucas' (Bryan Dattilo) pal Alan dated Sami, while secretly pining for her older sister Carrie (Christie Clark). Frustrated by his lack of progress with Carrie, Alan violently raped Sami.

During the rape trial, Sami was branded a liar and Alan was released. It wasn't long before he came after her again — this time with a gun! Sami managed to get the weapon away from Alan—before he could rape her a second time—and shot him in the business!

Distraught, Sami made love with Lucas, conceiving Will. Although no one in Salem knew that fact for quite some time, because Sami passed the baby off as Austin's (Patrick Muldoon). What if Will, devastated after some future bust up with Sonny (Freddie Smith), decides to look for love online? READ MORE

Hope Has a Plan For Marlena to Get Kristen on Days of Our Lives

Brady Black (Eric Martsolf) endured the awkward task of introducing new love Kristen DiMera (Eileen Davidson) to old flame Chloe Lane (Nadia Bjorlin), when the trio bumped into each other.

At the Brady Pub, Kate (Lauren Koslow) begged Daniel (Shawn Christian) to convince Chloe to give her supervised visits with Parker. Looks like the "I'm the only grandmother he's ever known" car worked, as Daniel said he would talk to Chloe.

Marlena (Deidre Hall) admitted to Hope (Kristian Alfonso) she was feeling guilty over actually preferring Kristen with Brady, if it meant keeping her rival away from John (Drake Hogestyn). Hope told her former sister-in-law she couldn’t play by Kristen’s rules. READ MORE
