Original Santa Barbara Leading Man Dane Witherspoon Dead at 56 (VIDEO)

The star-crossed, forbidden love of Kelly Capwell and Joe Perkins launched NBC's short-lived, cult fave soap opera Santa Barbara in 1984. Fans of the show couldn't decide who was more beautiful, Robin Wright, who played heiress Kelly Capwell, or Dane Witherspoon, who starred as her wrongfully-accused-of-murder beau Joe Perkins.

Fellow SB hunk A Martinez (ex-Cruz) had the difficult task of announcing Witherspoon's death via Facebook. He was 56. Watch a clip of Witherspoon, Wright and Louise Sorel, who played SB's sex-crazed socialite Augusta Lockridge, after the jump!

Nadia Bjorlin Jokes Re: Soap Absence and Return: "Without Chloe, You Could Have Put De Niro on DAYS and Nothing Would Happen!"

Nadia Bjorlin fans, rejoice! TV Guide Magazine's Michael Logan is reporting the raven-haired vixen is bringing songbird Chloe Lane  home to Salem!

TV Guide Magazine: What happens when Chloe returns?

Bjorlin: I have heard she's going to come back as her old self again, the Chloe with good self-esteem, a stronger and more confident Chloe who can really stand up for herself and not be bullied. Toward the end there, she was being bullied by everyone in Salem! No more. She's coming back a lot more mature and who knows? [Laughs] Maybe she'll get some revenge! There are so many possibilities for the character and they've only told me a little bit right now because they don't trust me with the information. It's been very hush-hush. [A Days rep adds that Chloe's return will be heavily centered around her son, Parker.] READ MORE

Bollywood Ending: Fired DAYS Vet Louise Sorel Blasts Soap Over Way Character Exits

I bet Louise Sorel wishes she had just told then Days of Our Lives executive producer Gary Tomlin to kick rocks when he asked her to return as Vivian Alamain back in December of 2009. The actress is speaking out again to Michael Logan in this week's print edition of TV Guide; this time about the insipid manner in which the beloved, comic villain she portrays is being written out of town. Auntie Viv's going Bollywood!

"This turns my character into an idiot, a cartoon," says the actress. "It's embarassing and pathetic for a woman of Vivian's age to suddenly announce she's going to be in Bollywood movies! I expressed my opinion to one of the producers much more crassly than I had intended because I was just so full of sadness and rage."

Two Snaps: Days of Our Lives' Louise Sorel Goes IN on Ken Corday!

You just don't mess with Louise Sorel! The soap veteran spilled the tea on her firing from Days of Our Lives via a blog for Soap Opera Digest. Sorel revealed how she was cruelly terminated from the soap opera, without so much as a personal word from showrunner Ken Corday! The actress stated:

I have been terminated. Told I am no longer needed, scram, easily replaced, not necessary. I have not been actually contacted by my employer. So I am speaking for him. This person who is not present and who clearly feels it is not necessary to communicate with me in any shape or form, except of course, by check. Since he owes me for the time he is not using me and contractually he must pay up. I am actress. This just happens to be my profession and in truth it is like any other job when it comes to the hiring and firing routine.
