Flashback: Kayla Says Goodbye To Salem
Submitted by Aussie Brian on October 20, 2009 - 10:08am
You're fourteen, male and have just openly wept in front of your mother during the middle of the day at the end of a daytime soap opera. You have witnessed sad occasions on your favorite soap before, for example the death of Hope Williams Brady, Isabella's cancer and Bo's touching eulogy at Hope's funeral, but nothing even comes close to what you have just witnessed on your show, Days of Our Lives. You get up from the couch a touch embarrassed, but see that your mother has been crying just as much. How does one become overcome with such grief? You have grown up with Kayla Brady Johnson and all her trials and tribulations with Steven Earl Johnson in Salem. This time she is saying goodbye and doesn't know "if and when" she'll be back... DAYS May be Improving, but Ken Corday is Still a Blithering Idiot
Submitted by Jamey Giddens on July 4, 2009 - 9:31am

Memo to Days of Our Lives' publicity team. Put a muzzle on your figure head. Althought DAYS has been getting better these last few months— thanks, we hear, to the vision of co-excutive producer Gary Tomlin, along with co-head writer Chris Whitesell's ability to make up for Dena Hackley's shortcomings—every single time Corday opens his yap to insult his own show's fans it only confirms what a complete and utter tool Corday really is. Here's what the Soap Opera Slayer had to say to disgruntled fans of the two most popular couples in DAYS history— John and Marlena and Patch and Kayla— in this week's Soap Opera Digest:
"For the ardent John and Marlena and Patch and Kayla fans, great, you can still see them at their luncheons,. That was then, this is now." READ MORE
Wishful Casting: Hey Babs and Chris, Can Y'all Bring Back Mary Beth Evans as Sierra Too, Purty Please!?
Submitted by Jamey Giddens on June 9, 2009 - 5:58pm
Okay, now that the abtastic LUCY COE (Lynn Herring) is coming to As The World Turns, can you all just go right on ahead and put in a call to Mary Beth Evans to reprise her role as Sierra Esteban? Since Sierra is Craig's (Jon Lindstrom) ex-wife and LUCY COE is Doc's (Jon Lindstrom) ex-wife, and Mary Beth is my ex-wife, I mean, she was Katherine Bell on General Hospital and Lynn of course is now and forever, LUCY COE, it makes PERFECT sense for LUCY COE to have to battle some heffa looking like that clumsy, parapet-slipping Katherine Bell!
I swear on everything I hold dear, I will cut this soap some MAJOR slack if you do this Babs and Chris. Oh, but wait a minute...before I commit to letting my keypad write a check my behind can't cash, will you all at least attempt to WRITE A DAMN SOAP OPERA!
Enough with this three-day-a-week bull ish. If I wanted to watch an episodic I would catch a Law and Order re-run on TNT. Your experiment is NOT EFFING WORKING. You write a decent storyline for my LUCY COE and you bring back my Katherine Bell, er Sierra or I will lead a contigent to that Early Show, dressed in "Holden and Lily 4-Ever" t-shirts and stage a sit in! Lynn Herring at the 1999 Nurse's Ball
Submitted by Luke Kerr on June 9, 2009 - 3:31pmGeneral Hospital may have never called Lynn Herring about returning to Port Charles, but that doesn't mean we can't relish a fond memory or two now does it? Check out this clip of Lynn Herring and Mary Beth Evans performing at the 1999 Nurses Ball.
What do you think of Lynn Herring returning to daytime?
Did Cady McClain's Return Prevent a Mary Beth Evans Redux on ATWT?
Submitted by Jamey Giddens on May 18, 2009 - 5:31pm

Sorry Sierra fans, according to TV Guide Canada's Nelson Branco, As The World Turns opted to bring back Cady McClain as Rosanna Cabot, instead of Craig's other ex-wife Sierra Esteban (Mary Beth Evans). Dang, it had to be either or? Are things really that bad budget-wise in Oakdale? Wait. Scratch that. Silly question. Here's a thought, maybe ATWT can stop bringing on 17 newbies every 13 weeks, that way they can actually afford two popular female leads at once. It's a wonder they find the nickels in Chris Goutman's couch to afford Grayson McCouch and Roger Howarth, yet much to my chagrin, they do...
DC #356: Days of Our Lives Emergency Episode
Submitted by Daytime Confidential on February 4, 2009 - 2:30am
Days of Our Lives fired Thaao Penghlis, Stephen Nichols and Mary Beth Evans and the unexpected news brought Luke, Mike, Jamey and Jillian together for a second Days of Our Lives emergency episode in the past six months.
They discuss the impact the firings of these veteran actors will have on the show. They talk about what this means for the remaining actors over forty still on the show and speculate who Ken Corday might axe next. They answer a reader's question of which is worse, to watch vets like Nichols and Evans get fired and keep the Days of Our Lives sets or have the show end up with a production model like Guiding Light. Luke asks if these latest firings could all be apart of Corday's scheme to get Deidre Hall and Drake Hogestyn back later in the year. Mike, Jamey and Jillian weigh in on if they think it is a realist possibility.
Fans of Patch and Kayla call in with their reaction to the surprising firings and vent their frustrations at the decisions by NBC, Corday, Dena Higley and the other executives at the show.

Would You Like Mary Beth Evans To Return To Oakdale as Sierra?
Submitted by Luke Kerr on February 3, 2009 - 7:41pmSince I asked General Hospital fans if they would like Mary Beth Evans to return to Port Charles I figured I'd better ask if As the World Turns fans would like her to return to Oakdale. Oh and if anyone questioned whether or not things have changed at all on As the World Turns since 2005, all you have to do is watch this clip. Barbara, Paul, Dusty and Sierra teaming up to take Craig down. The only person missing is Mary Beth Evans' Sierra.

Would You Like Stephen Nichols and Mary Beth Evans to Return As Stefan Cassadine and Katherine Bell?

The week of August 18, 1998 was the week I started watching General Hospital. It was that week that Katherine Bell appeared alive at Stefan Cassadine's trial and it is that storyline that hooked me on the show. It was also my first introduction to Nicholas and Evans. I would absolutely love it if one or both of them returned to General Hospital. Unfortunately, all the You Tube clips of the trial I could find have their embedding disabled so the above clip is from Stefan's 2003 death.
