Soap Queen vs. Fashionista Pt. II: Vera Wang Rep Denies General Hospital Diss; Soap's Costumer Says B.S.!By Jamey Giddens on October 20, 2011
A Vera Wang insider has responded to General Hospital star Nancy Lee Grahn's tweets alleging the fashionista denied GH's costume designer the right to purchase one of Wang's dresses to appear on the series. The source told frock blog Styleite no one from GH had attempted to buy a VW dress!
A source at Vera Wang said over the phone Wednesday afternoon that Grahn’s accusations were surprising and unusual. The source says the Vera Wang press office would “love the exposure” of being on a show as big as General Hospital — and pointed out that Wang’s dresses — bridal and otherwise — have been all over television. Wang recently dressed Kim Kardashian for her wedding to basketball player Kris Humphries, and before that, its dresses had been featured on shows like The View, Oprah and The Martha Stewart Show. The source added that turning down a sale under any circumstance would be “very strange.” READ MORE
It is no secret how much I love Lexi, and how talented I think she is. It will also come as no surprise that I am sad about her leaving... and yes, tears were shed.
Very often things out of our control turn out to be the most perfect orchestration of circumstances that lead to even better experiences, that shape our lives in profound ways. As much as I will miss Lexi, I believe this will end up being a blessing for her. At 19, there are endless acting opportunities, and now she is free to pursue them. My TV baby is a beautiful, classy young woman with a fantastically, supportive family, and a bright, bright future. I'm so excited for her.
General Hospital ladies Nancy Lee Grahn, Lisa LoCicero and Julie Marie Berman will take part in the third annual American Cancer Society Relay For Life of Hollywood at Helen Bernstein High School, 1309 N. Wilton Place on July 30 at 9:30 AM PST. The co-stars have "virtual" relay teams to raise money for those suffering from the disease. Grahn stated:
It is always a privilege to show up in any way for the American Cancer Society and their noble and tireless campaign to find the cure and prevention for all cancer. I show up in the name of all those who have battled this disease and specifically for my friend Doreen Schmitt who continues to beat the odds every day. Please join my team and relay for life, hope and perfect health.
When the news broke that Tyler Christopher was handed his pink slip at General Hospital, my immediate reaction was not one of shock. Once confirmed and the dust settled, I thought about what it all really meant for GH and the canvas surrounding Christopher’s character Nikolas Cassadine. Of course my second thought was that our own Luke Kerr was crying over one of the last Cassadines left leaving Port Charles. Is that the problem? Nikolas being our only real connection to the iconic Cassadines? With no story for the Cassadine family, is there a reason to keep the main connection to them?
I know, I know, he’s Laura Spencer’s (Genie Francis) son and what I’m about to say next may shock some of you. Should GH hold onto a character that is seemingly going nowhere based on a hope that IF Francis and ABC were to strike a deal, the onscreen mother and son could share a handful of scenes? Shocking, coming from me, who values the connections to characters' pasts, but it’s not Nikolas’ familial ties that I am struggling with. It’s the obvious lack of direction for this character and the Cassadines that seems to be plaguing the writer’s table. Yes, we still have Alexis (Nancy Lee Grahn) and her girls, but the longing that Sam (Kelly Monaco) fans have had for her to explore her Cassadine roots have fallen on deaf ears.
