Bless Rachel Melvin, For She Has "Sins"
Submitted by Luke Kerr on August 12, 2009 - 10:44am
Rachel Melvin has been a busy young woman since leaving Days of Our Lives. In addition to signing on as Hayden Panettiere's college roomate on Heroes, Melvin has landed a role in the upcoming Lifetime Movie Network miniseries Sins, according to The Hollywood Reporter. Starring Gossip Girl's Dreama Walker, Sins is a contemporary look at the seven deadly sins. Sound raunchy!
Thanks to Daniel for the heads up!

DC Exclusive: Ex-DAYS Star Blake Berris on How His Emmy Nod Made Him Burn Breakfast
Submitted by Jamey Giddens on May 15, 2009 - 4:31pm
Of all the head-scratching 2009 Daytime Emmy nominations, I was glad to see the Academy got a few nods right. Two of those were former Days of Our Lives breakout stars Blake Berris (ex-Nick) and his real life pal Rachel Melvin (ex-Chelsea), who were nominated in the Best Younger Male Lead and Best Younger Female Lead categories respectively. From his very first air show, I knew the immensely-talented, theater-vetted Berris would stand out in Salem.
Melvin managed the unthinkable during her time on DAYS. She made me to finally forgive her character for mowing down the child of my favorite couple ever. Melvin infused Chelsea, a character that could have been a token, one-note, prototypical DAYS villainess, with tons of heart. I really don't even remember when it happened but before I knew it, I had stopped loathing Chelsea, and came to see her as a viable, bonafide heroine, and that is to Melvin's credit. I caught up with Berris who shared with Daytime Confidential how he learned of his nomination from Melvin, and how it caused him to wreck a meal. READ MORE
DC #385: ABC Assets People Want To See
Submitted by Daytime Confidential on March 31, 2009 - 1:04am
On today's ABC episode of Daytime Confidential Luke, Tina and Belinda discuss the latest in All My Children, One Life to Live and General Hospital storylines and news, including:
All My Children's Adam Chandler is in the hospital, offscreen. Dastardly David Hayward isn't how we remember him. Is he being written in character and is there anything else left to enjoy about him?
All My Children and One Life to Live beat General Hospital in the ratings. What are the causes for General Hospital's decline? Could there be a Liason connection?
One Life to Live's John and Blair get married. If Jason Morgan is a Borg does that make John McBain a Cylon? Dorian and Ray Montez versus Dorian and David. The never ending story of Stacy. We continue to enjoy Matthew and Destiny.
Belinda reacts to the return of Jerry Jacks on General Hospital. Robin's PPD storyline isn't getting better. Could Rachel Melvin be coming to GH while Greg Vaughan ends up at Days of Our Lives? We discuss the latest rumors.
We discuss the possibility of the Daytime Emmy awards ending up on The CW. All this and more on today's ABC episode of Daytime Confidential.

Are DAYS and GH Playing Red Rover With Greg Vaughan and Rachel Melvin?
Submitted by Jamey Giddens on March 26, 2009 - 7:40pm

DC staffers heard it through the soapvine that former Days of Our Lives actress Rachel Melvin recently read for a part at General Hospital. Could she possibly be Sonny's soon-to-be SORASed daughter Kristina? Another possibility, would be Melvin doing to a temp gig as a young Claudia? Spoilers indicate the soap will be flashing back to Claw's childhood.
"I can't comment on that," says an insider.
We also hear, Greg Vaughan recently met with the people over at Days of Our Lives for a part, which didn't make Fronsie too happy! Developing...

Where Would You Like Rachel Melvin To End Up?
Submitted by Luke Kerr on February 11, 2009 - 3:51pm
I am going to miss Rachel Melvin on Days of Our Lives. Sure Chelsea mowed down her little brother in the street, but Melvin is a very good actress. Hopefully another soap snaps her up. Imagine her as Brook Lynn Ashton on General Hospital, Lucy Montgomery on As the World Turns, Colby Chandler on All My Children or even Colleen Carlton on The Young and the Restless. Oh the possibilities.
Hypothetically speaking, where would you like Melvin to end up?
So Long Snappin' Turtle!
Submitted by Jamey Giddens on February 11, 2009 - 3:30pm
The Streets of Salem are finally safe for toddlers. Whaddya know, someone actually left Days of Our Lives of her own freewill. Rachel Melvin (Chelsea "The Snappin' Turtle" Brady) is leaving the soap, according to Soap Opera Digest. While I never liked her character— not for one second— there's no denying Melvin is an amazing young talent. Click here to read Ken "The Soap Slayer" Corday gush, coo and fawn over the exiting actress as if she were, you know, Deidre Hall or somebody.
