Days of Our Lives: Has Chelsea Finally Been Redeemed?

Days of Our Lives seems to be going to great extremes to  fully redeem the character of Chelsea Benson. This week the character learns she is sterile as a result of the infection she developed following her surgery to save her dad Bo's life.

Rachel Melvin said in Soap Opera Digest that her character feels her diagnosis is retribution for what happened with Zack. While I don't really like the theory that an accidental death should necessarily result in sterility for a young woman, I readily admit I loathe this character, not for the accident that killed Zack, but because of how shamefully callous she behaved afterwards.

Seeing Chelsea gripe and moan about having to do community service as Bo and Hope and their families mourned a baby they all loved almost made me turn Days off completely for the first time in 28 or so years and I didn't even consider doing that when Marlena stuffed a donut down Gran's throat. All that being said, Rachel Melvin is one of the show's best actresses and her chemistry with both Shawn Christian (Daniel) and Blake Berris (Nick) can't be denied. What do you think, is sterility finally punishment enough for Zack's death?

SHOCKING DAYS RUMOR POLL: Will Days bring Zack Brady back from the dead?

A RUMOR that would almost be too incredible to be true-were this not Days we're talking about-has hit the Net concerning the possible return from the dead of Bo and Hope's beloved tyke Zack Brady!

According to the RUMOR, in his continuing pursuit to dig up information on Stefano's business dealings, John will run across a picture of a small boy. Later on, he heads over to the Kiriakis mansion to warn Victor and Philip not to get in his way of taking over Salem. There John finds Marlena conducting a therapy session with Victor.

Doc and John's former father-in-law try to jog his memory by showing him pictures of Brady. John recognizes the ringbearer at Brady's wedding to Chloe as the boy in the picture-Zack Brady!

John will fill Marlena in on what he's discovered, but she will prevent him from telling Bo and Hope until they can be sure the child is Zack and the only way to do that, is to revive Stefano!

As a fan, I have mixed feelings about this scenario. While it would be wonderful to see Bo and Hope reunited with their son, Peter Reckell (Bo), Renee Jones (Lexie),  Rachel Melvin (Chelsea) and especially Kristian Alfonso (Hope) gave the performances of their career during the storyline involving Zack's accidental death due to his sister Chelsea's reckless driving, and its aftermath.

Not to mention the fact that Zack's dying niece Claire received his liver which saved her life. How exactly would they explain that one away? What do you think, would it be worth it to see Bo and Hope reunited with their son to re-write history this way?

Smackdown: Daniel and Kate vs Daniel and Chelsea

Posters in our Days of our Lives forum picked up the snap, crackle, and pop between newcomer Daniel Jonas and Chelsea...or was it her grandmother Kate? The good doc needs someone to occupy his time when he's not saving lives. What fan wouldn't enjoy a war between two manipulative, deceitful gals as a side effect? One thing is certain, if he picks BOTH, he's surely in for a rough ride!

Smackdown! Who should be with Daniel Kate or Chelsea?

Brandon Beemer's goodbye blog to Days and "Shelle"

Exiting Days of Our Lives heartthrob Brandon Beener (soon-to-be ex-Shawn) blogged about his and Martha Madison (soon-to-be ex-Belle)'s last day on the set on his official website and although I have to admit I have never been much of a fan of this incarnation of Shelle (couldn't get over Jason Cook and Kirsten Storms in the roles), I have to say I am sad to see them go, especially Beemer. He has really risen to the occasion during the aftermath of Grandpa Shawn (Frank Parker)'s traumatic death and Bo (Peter Reckell)'s medical crisis. Beemer's Shawn has been a steady rock for his mom Hope (Kristian Alfonso) and Grandma Caroline (Peggy McKay) and has even made me able to stomach his bratty, self-centered half sister Chelsea (Rachel Melvin). Here's hoping another soap snatches him up pronto! Personally I think he would make a GREAT Thomas Forrester on Bold and the Beautiful. Just "putting it out there in the universe" as Lisa Rinna used to say on Soap Talk!

Here's Beemer's goodbye blog in its entireity:
So... a lot of people have been asking me how it went down on our last day.. so here it is. Our last day was not a fun one. We had an afternoon call time so I had a lot of time to think before I went in. I wasn't really sure what to expect.
I got to work and I have to say that I found myself really appreciating more than ever the time I got to spend with everyone, walking the halls, sitting on set, sitting quietly in my dressing room, etc. It was very strange how aware of everything I was that day... knowing that this was my last day I will be doing this. I said my good byes to those that had to leave early and packed up everything in my dressing room before we started to tape our last scenes.
We had about five scenes to shoot at the end of the day... they went by really quickly and before I knew it we were on our last scene. It was hard...all the time that it took to shoot it seemed so great because it allowed us more time to stay on set and do what we love so much. Then it was done. Everyone gathered around as there was great applause and I stood there wishing I could run away from this moment and then come back to find that it never happened... but I figured that it probably wouldn't go down that way.
A cake and three presents were wheeled out on stage. Then they played a pre-recorded speech that Martha had done to thank everyone that she wanted to thank. She thanked everyone...it was very sweet. Then it was my turn..I thought it would be a piece of cake but I have to tell you that it was not easy. I said what I had to say or shall I say what I COULD say. When emotions start to overcome you, it's almost impossible to speak. Ed Scott gave a very nice farewell speech to us.. that man has got to be the coolest man ever!! Then we said our goodbyes, took our pictures and that was the End of our run on Days of our Lives. (Sounds soooo dramatic huh?!! Lol)
I am so thankful for every memory that I have and all the amazing people I met because of that show. The last year and eight months have been the best of my life. I will cherish everything that I have experienced. And I thank you all that have been so supportive during my run on the show and through this crazy last 8 weeks. I will never forget what you have done.

Sincerely,
Brandon

Days of Our Lives: "American Gladiator's" Mike O'Hearn Visits Salem

TV Guide is reporting that NBC is in the midst of a bit of cross promotion. Mike O'Hearn of American Gladiator will be appearing as a bartender on Days of Our Lives. Apparently, he'll be interacting with Chelsea who decides to drown her sorrows by getting sloshed. Above is the clip from O'Hearn's tryout for American Gladiator.

Days of Our Lives: Rachel Melvin's "Most Dramatic, Intense Storylines"

Days of Our Live's Rachel Melvin (Chelsea) is blogging about her upcoming storyline and work on the NBC soap. It looks like Days of Our Lives and whoever is in charge may have some very interesting stuff in store for us. We've posted an excepert from her blog below but be sure to visit it here.

"Well it's nearly time to go back to work. After a week off to recharge myself, I am using the last two days to prep myself for my part in one of the biggest most dramatic, intense storylines in Days of Our Lives history- well at least in MY history on Days. With my week off I was finally able to start catching up on our aired episodes and I have to say I'm very proud of everyone involved in our production. I think the airing shows are amazingly put together, well acted, and interesting to watch. I do hope it continues to help raise our ratings."
