INTERVIEW: Thom Racina on The New OLTL, Ice Princess Revisited and His Love and Hate For Daytime Confidential

It's no fun to learn you've gotten one of your soap icons a talkin' to! That happened to me on the red carpet before the premieres of the new One Life to Live and All My Children. It was there I found out from Thom Racina himself, the writers of the new OLTL have a love/hate relationship with Daytime Confidential!

The iconic scribe and I also dished about his plans to tell the kind of game-changing love stories he once told on ABC Daytime's General Hospital on the new OLTL, only with a more realistic touch for the modern day, internet savvy viewer.

Daytime Confidential: Hi Thom, it's Jamey Giddens from Daytime Confidential.

Thom Racina: Oh hi. Daytime Confidential. We love and hate you, you know? [Laughs]

DC: What? We love you!

TR: Daytime Confidential, that's how we get yelled at a lot. "How dare you post this? How dare you say that?" [Laughs] READ MORE

The first episode of TOLN's One Life to Live update hasn't even aired, and the soap's co-head writer is already out the door! Soap Opera Network broke news of Susie Bedsow Horgan exiting the serial.

Is The Banner in Danger of Folding on One Life to Live?

Don't expect things to be going well for publishing tycoon Viki Lord (Erika Slezak) when One Life to Live returns on April 29. TV Guide Magazine's Michael Logan spoke with the soap's co-head writer Thom Racina, who dished The Banner, Llanview's beloved newspaper, has hit rough waters.

What's going to happen to the sacred institution, and how does OLTL newcomer and High School Musical alum Corbin Bleu (Jeffrey King) fit into things? According to Racina:

Jeffrey comes to town and develops a very close relationship with Viki," Racina says. "He'll become her star reporter in a story that will also heavily involve Dorian Lord [Robin Strasser]."

Erika Slezak on One Life to Live's New Creative Team: "I Think We're in Great Shape"

The first of Agnes Nixon's sudsers to ever hit the airwaves resumed production this week. To say the cast and crew of One Life to Live are excited about the reboot, would be on par with saying Viki Lord had a slight touch of mental problems over the years.

In the March 25 issue of Soap Opera Digest, Erika Slezak praised the soap's new brass. Said Llanview's grande dame:

"I have ultimate faith in [Co-Head Writer] Susan Horgan," Slezak stated. "Jen Pepperman, who started with the show many, many years ago, is, I think, a brilliant choice for executive producer because she knows the show, she knows the medium so well, and she's a smart cookie. I think we're in great shape, I really do."
