Thorsten Kaye
Hey Fronsie, Maybe Thorsten and Alicia Just Aren't That Into You?
Submitted by Jamey Giddens on October 2, 2009 - 11:48am
You must love me...TV Guide Canada's Nelson Branco is hearing ABC just doesn't want to accept the fact that both Thorsten Kaye and Alicia Minshew aren't staying with Pine Valley, 90210.
Never trust a major network. In its press release trumpeting which stars will be making the historic move to L.A. at the end of this year, Alicia Minshew’s name was on the statement as being on “maternity leave.” However, Suds has learned that ABC didn’t want to announce that she and Thorsten Kaye, who, as we previously reported, would not make the move, have quit the show together. A source close to Minshew states, “ABC isn’t taking no for answer! They suggested to Lish to have the baby first, then decide, like she can’t think straight. But Alicia wants out even though she plans on briefly returning to wrap up her storyline. Her husband just bought his third restaurant in New York City, and she doesn’t want to spend her baby’s first year on a plane.” And star on one of the worst shows in the history of television.
BREAKING NEWS: Thorsten Kaye OUT At AMC!
Submitted by Jillian Bowe on September 30, 2009 - 12:34pm

According to the moderator,
Thorsten is not relocating to LA with AMC, and he is not commuting to AMC after its move. It looks as if his last AMC tape date may be in November. If that changes, we will let you know, but that is where things stand for now.
Lucci Going With AMC To L.A.; MacDonnell Out; Kaye Not Moving
Submitted by Jillian Bowe on September 30, 2009 - 11:03am
I made my final decision just a couple of days ago.
Don't expect her to hitch her truck and move to Beverly though. Lucci let it be known she will stay a New Yorker,
My life is here, said Lucci.
The AP also reports Lucci's co-star, Thorsten Kaye will not be moving to L.A.
Expect to see one less member of the fictional Martin clan. According to the news service, Ray MacDonnell who potrays the family patriarch Dr. Joe Martin, will retire.
Is Thorsten Kaye Staying in New York?
Submitted by Luke Kerr on September 4, 2009 - 3:46pm
The biggest question many All My Children fans have had is "will Thorsten Kaye move to L.A.?" It looks as if that may not be happening. TV Guide Canada's Nelson Branco has this tidbit in Friday's Suds Report.
The Suds Report overheard Thorsten Kaye (Zach) telling friends at the Emmys that he will not be making the move to L.A. However, Cameron Mathison (Ryan) has reportedly finally made up his mind — he will be moving to Cali. Not too surprisingly, Susan Lucci (Erica) is still undecided.
If Thorsten Kaye stays in New York do you want him to return to One Life to Live?

As of this writing, The 36th Annual Daytime Emmy Awards concluded a few hours ago on The CW and I am awash in mixed emotions after live Twittering the event. I wanted to put down these feelings while they are still fresh but I promise to keep these ruminations brief.
First, let me offer congratulations to Daytime Confidential's Jamey Giddens, along with TVGuide.ca's Nelson Branco and Soap Opera Digest editor Stephanie Sloane in their debut as commentators during the awards pre-show. Though one could detect a teeny bit of the jitters at various times, they were a class act all the way. I also must give praise to DC's Melodie Aikels, who did a bang up job offering live blog commentary during the pre-show & ceremony. READ MORE

All My Children Actors Given One Week to Decide on Move
Submitted by Jamey Giddens on August 7, 2009 - 8:46am
All My Children leading man Thorsten Kaye tells New York Daily News' Carolyn Hinsey the network has given actors one week to decide if they're moving with the soap to Los Angeles this winter.
They've given us one week to decide," says Thorsten Kaye (Zach), whose partner, Susan Haskell, toils on "OLTL" as Marty. "I'm not sure what I'm going to do. I'm not the kind of dad who wants to be 3,000 miles away from my kids. And it's not exactly the best time to sell real estate."
That said, "I think the move shows that ABC has a lot of belief in 'AMC' and wants to keep it going," says Kaye.

My absence from Daytime Confidential lately has not been due to the usual business of family and work taking up a lot of my time, but rather a certain lack energy to post about practically any of the daytime serials that clog up my DVR from day to day. This is neither a positive nor a negative thing because there are frequent periods throughout the year when shows kind of coast along and do their their thing, usually between sweeps.
At these times, there is little for the viewer — if that viewer is me — to get all worked up about this plot twist, that character's action, some couple or another or even a whole show's direction. Normally, this state of affairs hits one or two shows at a time. Every once in a while like the last couple of weeks, the stars align and all the serials get caught in the same momentum of drift. All that is required of us is to watch and see where it all goes.
In that spirit, my brain plays a little game of soap opera hopscotch, taking in odds and ends big and small. There is no great elaboration on anything here, just a quick rundown of things I like and not like so much. Your mileage may vary... READ MORE
All My Children Preview: Zach and Kendall Get Married, Again
Submitted by Luke Kerr on June 1, 2009 - 10:49amA murder trial is coming to Pine Valley and Zach (Thorsten Kaye) and Kendall (Alicia Minshew) have found a loop hole. Da da da dum...They "must" get re-married. So now the couple who never should have broken up in the first place is getting married again, not because they love one another, but to protect themselves. It sort seems a bit hollow to have Zendall reunited this way and I can only imagine what the Rendall fans must be thinking.
Are you glad that Zendall is remarrying?
It Was a Dark & Stormy Night...
Submitted by J Bernard Jones on May 15, 2009 - 4:27pm
Even if you do not follow literature, you are no doubt aware that the title of this post is a phrase associated with the worst kind of lazy, pedestrian, obvious writing imaginable. "It was a dark and stormy night..." is, to put it bluntly, synonymous with the word "bad."
Bad in and of itself isn't always a bad thing, as there are varying degrees of badness from which to choose. For example, there are things that are "so bad they are good," like The Pussycat Dolls and RuPaul's Drag Race. There are other things that are really bad, like white people dancing to "Push It" and Julie Chen hosting Big Brother. Then you have things that are so atrocious, inspiring more WTF moments than a Samantha Harris post-performance interview on Dancing with the Stars that you question your sanity for sitting through it without clubbing a baby seal.
By "you" I mean "me," and it might not take too much of a stretch of the imagination to guess how I felt about Friday's abominable, lobotomized episode of All My Children that climaxed with the shooting of "a legendary character." READ MORE
