NBC Denies Approaching Anderson Cooper For Matt Lauer’s Today Gig

Did NBC approach Anderson Cooper about assuming the lead anchor job on Today, or not? Deadline says they did. However, NBC is denying the blog's report to The Hollywood Reporter. So is a reported source close to Cooper.

According to the article, NBC cops to approaching Cooper, but not for Matt Lauer's job. Here's a quote from Peacock suit Alexandra Wallace:

"As we’ve said before, Matt Lauer is the best in the business. We want him in the Today show anchor chair for many years to come."

Anderson Cooper Tapes CNN Pilot With Kathy Griffin; Did NBC Approach Him to Replace Matt Lauer?

Just how many new shows can Anderson Cooper do?  According to Deadline, the journalist and Kathy Griffin filmed a pilot for CNN. The website is also reporting NBC approached Cooper to replace Today's embattled Matt Lauer.

I hear NBC toppers recently reached out to CNN’s Anderson Cooper to replace Lauer on the show before the end of the year. After their initial approach to Cooper, I hear NBC reached out to Lauer to get his blessing about the changeover. But I heard they got pushback from the Today veteran, who contacted Cooper to express his disapproval. I also hear that call caught Cooper by surprise, as he had assumed Lauer had been brought on board before NBC began making overtures.

Daytime and Pop Confidential Take ‘The Power Trip’ in NYC With Jackie Collins!

A historic blizzard pummeling much of the East Coast wasn't enough to prevent me from hopping on a bird from Atlanta to New York City this past weekend. What would make me risk life and frozen limb in such a manner? Why, Jackie Collins of course!

Anderson Cooper on Lance Armstrong Doping Scandal: “He Was a Complete Jerk About This For Years and Years”

Don’t expect Anderson Cooper and disgraced cyclist Lance Armstrong to go bike riding anytime soon.  On Wednesday's episode of Anderson, Cooper and guest co-host Dari Alexander discussed Armstrong copping to using performance-enhancement drugs in an upcoming interview with Oprah Winfrey.

The Silver Fox remarked:

I've got to say he was a complete jerk about this for years and years and years. He wouldn't just deny this. He would go after and try to destroy the people who were telling the truth and people who were telling the truth would get anonymous death threats. Even the guy from the anti-doping agency got anonymous email death threats; it's not known who it's from.

Watch Cooper go in on Armstrong after the jump!
