One Life to Live Veteran Al Freeman Jr. Dead at 78

The entertainment community is mourning the loss of a true icon. Al Freeman Jr., a veteran of stage, screen and soap, passed away on Aug. 10. He was 78.

While Freeman appeared in several motion pictures (Malcolm X, Down In The Delta), his most lasting role was that of Capt. Ed Hall on ABC Daytime's One Life to Live from 1972-1987. He reprised the role briefly in 1988 and 2000. In recent years, Freeman taught at Howard University. Our thoughts and prayers are with his family and friends. Watch a clip of Freeman as OLTL's Ed Hall, alongside Carla (Ellen Holly), below.
