Emily O’Brien on Y&R Exit: “They’re Trying to Get Back to The Core Families”

Could unconnected characters be partly to blame for dismal soap ratings? No, say it ain't so! [feigns shock] That's what the brass at The Young and the Restless apparently told  Emily O'Brien  about why they're getting rid of Jana, according to Soaps.com
Soaps.com: What reason did the show give you for letting you go? Was it storyline related?

Emily:
They said that they're trying to get back to the core families. I think it had something to do with the ratings, and I understand that. I think I'm one of the few or only characters who's not affiliated with one of the main families. I lasted for five years, so that in itself is great.
