INTERVIEW: Kevin Bacon on Season 2 of The Following and Working With ATWT Alum Annie Parisse

While we have some time before FOX’s psychological thriller The Following is back for Season 2, multi-soap alum Kevin Bacon (Search For Tomorrow, Guiding Light) gave Daytime Confidential a few hints as to what we can expect for Ryan Hardy and Co. with the drama returns! Deranged serial killer Joe Carroll (James Purefoy) appeared to have died in the Season 1 finale, but is he really dead?

“We’re going to see an extension of the last scene of last season,” said Bacon of when the show picks back up. “We actually shot a longer scene so it continues. Last season was a cliffhanger so we’ll continue that and then you’ll see what happens when we jump forward a year. Ryan Hardy is healthie;, his heart is working. He’s running. He’s not in the FBI. He’s not drinking. He has relationships and is in a seemingly very different head space.”

Does The FBI Have to Be This Dumb For The Following to Work?

Claire (Natalie Zea) tried to escape Maniac Mansion with Joey on this week’s episode of The Following.  Unfortunately, she determined to do this by literally walking out the front gate, and was quickly apprehended. All the little stunt earned her was an electronic monitoring bracelet, courtesy of Sheriff Roderick.
Claire recognized Roderick as Joe’s (James Purefoy) Number Two and tried turning the corrupt lawman against him. Claire didn’t know Roderick and Joe can’t stand each other at this point.

The Following Recap: “Welcome Home”

On this week’s The Following Joey awoke at Maniac Mansion with his father staring at him because that’s not creepy at all. Joe (James Purefoy) seemed touched to be in the same room with his son finally. He tried bonding with Joey, but was met with the silent treatment. Joe apologized for Claire’s absence, and promised to bring his mommy there.  Emma (Valorie Curry) insisted Joey would come around once he knew Joe better.
Agent Donovan (Mike Colter) was put in charge of overseeing the Joe Carroll case, probably because the FBI was embarrassed at the ineptitude of their colleagues thus far.  He made it clear he wasn’t a fan of Ryan’s (Kevin Bacon) free range (and torturing of suspects), since he’s only supposed to be a consultant. The fact the Donovan was doing his job, pissed everybody off.  Ryan sulked, and made sure to give a lot of sass.
