Wishful Storytelling: Why Now is The Perfect Time For Warner Horizon to Do Knots Landing 2.0

Star-crossed lovers Gary and Valene Ewing (Ted Shackelford and Joan Van Ark) shared a reunion on Monday night's episode of TNT's Dallas that was more bitter than sweet. The way brilliant Dallas 2.0 writer Cynthia Cidre has it scripted, Gary and Val—who were blissfully reunited at the end of Knots Landing and still together in 1997 reunion movie Knots Landing: Back to the Cul-de-Sac—have now split, due to Gary falling off the wagon and bankrupting the couple!

While the Knots fan boy in me was a bit brokenhearted to learn Gary and Val hadn't lived a life of happy barbecues with neighbors Karen and Mac Mackenzie (Michele Lee and Kevin Dobson) on Southern California's fictional Seaview Circle, the Wishful Storyteller in me realized Gary and Val's golden years crisis could serve as the perfect launching pad for a new generation of marital melodramas via a Knots Landing continuation!

DESPERATE HOUSEWIVES SCANDAL: Nicollette Sheridan SUES Marc Cherry, Claims Assault!

A not so beautiful day in the neighborhood. The onscreen drama of ABC's Desperate Housewives appears not to hold a candle to the hit soap opera/comedy's behind-the-scenes shenanigans, that is, if you believe the shocking claims of one former series regular. Nicollette Sheridan, who for five seasons stole husbands and scenes on Wisteria Lane as maneater Edie Britt, is suing DH creator Marc Cherry for a cool $20 million, claiming assault and battery, gender violence and wrongful termination. TMZ broke the story on Monday.

According to the website's report, Sheridan— who shot to fame as Paige Mathison on the long-running CBS primetime sudser Knots Landing (She also brought my all-time favorite fiction heroine, Lucky Santangelo to life in the 1990 NBC minseries Lucky Chances!)— says the former Golden Girls scribe struck her across the head and face on set when she asked about a line in the script. Five will get you 10 he never tried that business with Bea Arthur!

Sheridan Rips “Housewives” Cherry

The saga between Desperate Housewives star Nicollette Sheridan (Edie Britt) and show creator Marc Cherry is starting to heat up. TV Guide Magazine spoke to the actress who states she would've left the show earlier on but she and the other ladies of the show, were locked into a contract and weren't able to leave. The star also gives her view on why Cherry killed off the vixen.
Somebody up there really wanted her dead. I think whoever Edie represented in Marc's life was somebody he didn't like. And he had a very difficult time distinguishing between fact and fiction.

Ouch! She doesn't mince words! Sheridan also talked about how she felt Cherry overlooked her by never adding her to the dramedy's opening credits, and barely mentioning her when interviewed.  Here's what Cherry had to say in response:
Edie's already slept with most of the guys on the street and has caused about as many problems as she could.

Desperate Housewives Morning After: “In A World Where The Kings Are Employers”

Maybe I'm just hypersensitve to the character of Edie Britt on Desperate Housewives all of a sudden, but did anyone else notice during last night's episode her line that went something like "you have to enjoy it while you're alive"? Considering we know that Desperate Housewives creator Marc Cherry is killing of Nicollette Sheridan's character I couldn't help but wonder if there wasn't a bit of foreshadowing going on.

What did you think of last night's episode?

Nicollette Sheridan OUT at Desperate Housewives!

Wisteria Lane will be short one desperate housewife next season. TV Guide Magazine is confirming news that Knots Landing vet Nicollette Sheridan will be leaving ABC's hit soap opera Desperate Housewives. I can't say this news surprises me. Edie has always been treated like someone who showed up late to the party, and Sheridan deserves better than that. She was Paige Matheson bitches! Thanks Gush900 for the tip!
