Lady Bosses: 6 Female Soap Opera Gangsters Who Put Hits Out on Daytime Television

No. 5: Claudia Zacchara, General Hospital

Daytime television has been full of dangerous women practically since the invention of the soap opera. Perhaps the most lethal of all female soap characters is the lady gangster. Mobbed up femme fatales, like the late Claudia Zacchara (Sarah Brown) on General Hospital, aren't afraid to be just as ruthless and unhinged as their male counterparts to get what they want — and they want everything!

Ms. Z and her adopted brother/bio son Johnny (Brandon Barash) thought they were so clever, when they put a hit out on Sonny Corinthos (Maurice Benard). Claudia barely lost a night's sleep, when her gunman took down Sonny's little boy, Michael (then Dylan Cash), instead.

Claudia eventually married Sonny, combining their rival mafia families. The naughty nuptials didn't make the sociopathic brunette feel any more secure. In fact, she went so bonkers, she tried to kidnap Josslyn, the daughter of Sonny's ex-wife Carly Corinthos-Jacks (Laura Wright)! Good thing a rapidly-aged Michael (then Drew Garrett) knew how to swing an axe handle by that point.

Sarah Brown on Beacon Hill: “Sort of Like Going Back to College When I Studied Political Science”

Before taking part in General Hospital's recent "Carlypalooza", soap mega star Sarah Brown signed on for quite the political party, by accepting a starring role in Crystal Chappell's Beacon Hill.  In the ambitious online serial, Brown plays hot shot State Representative Katherine Wesley, who shares a steamy past with reporter Sara Preston (All My Children's Alicia Minshew).

Does Brown notice any difference in acting on a web soap, as opposed to a daytime sudser? "No, I wouldn't say there are any differences. The acting process is not different for a web series."

Brown admits there was quite the learning curve involved with becoming versed in Beacon Hill's world of political intrigue.

Sarah Brown to Guest on CSI

Former General Hospital, The Bold and the Beautiful, As The World Turns and Days of Our Lives star Sarah Brown will guest star on CSI’s 13th episode this season, according to TVLine. Reportedly, “Brown is guest-starring as Karen, the wife of a Seattle cop who is questioned about her relationship with Tom, whose best friend she dated in high school.”

Unforgettable and ex-Nip/Tuck star Dylan Walsh will also guest in the episode, though TVLine does not reveal if Walsh’s character and the Seattle serial killer Tom Cooley are the same.
