Sony Confirms Shelly Altman and Jean Passanante as Head Writers of The Young and the Restless

It's official. Sony TV has confirmed Shelly Altman and Jean Passanante as head writers of The Young and the Restless. Veep Steve Kent made the announcement Thursday in a press release.

“Shelly has been an important part of the Y&R writing team since joining the show last year and Jean brings with her a wealth of daytime writing experience. We are excited to have these two talented daytime veterans leading our writing team at Y&R,” said Kent.  “We are also thrilled to have Tracey take on a new role and we look forward to her creative input to the show.”

The Young and the Restless’ outspoken veteran Eric Braeden didn’t mince words on his thoughts regarding head writer Josh Griffith quitting the soap. 

Word broke earlier today, Griffith decided to leave the No. 1 daytime drama on his own accord, reportedly due to “creative differences” with executive producer Jill Farren Phelps. When asked by a fan on Twitter about his opinion surrounding the backstage controversy, Braden replied:
