Exiting DAYS Star Alison Sweeney: "I Would Never Do Another Soap"

Could we one day see Alison Sweeney squaring off with Eric Braeden's Victor, as a recast Victoria Newman on The Young and the Restless? How about tangling with kid sister Elizabeth Webber (Rebecca Herbst) as NuSarah on General Hospital; or slut-shaming naughty mama Brooke Logan (Katherine Kelly Lang) as The Bold and the Beautiful's Bridget Forrester? Not gonna happen, said the exiting Days of Our Lives star!

Here's what Salem U.S.A.'s Sami Brady told Stephanie Sloane for the Feb. 3 issue of Soap Opera Digest:

Digest: Would you ever do another soap?

Sweeney: No, I would never do another soap. That is not why I am leaving. If I were to be on a soap opera, I would be on DAYS. And I would be Sami. READ MORE

Will Prospect Park Soaps Make it a Horse Race at Daytime Emmys?

The stars of Prospect Park's "shelved" All My Children and One Life to Live aren't letting the state of their former shows prevent them from submitting themselves for Daytime Emmy nominations. TV Guide Magazine caught up with NATAS senior executive director David Michaels who revealed they received a record numbers of entries before the January 17 deadline.

Michaels also notes that "several stars who chose not to submit themselves in recent years have decided to get back into the game — so the more the merrier! Between that, and the enthusiasm from AMC and OLTL, this has the makings of a real horse race.

David Tom on Y&R's Billy: "There's a Change in The Depth of His Anger"

David Tom is living proof you can in fact go home again. After a 12-year absence from The Young and the Restless, Tom is slipping back into the role of Billy Abbott come Feb. 3. Billy Miller departs on Jan. 30.

The actor is diving head first into the end of a huge storyline, with Billy having learned Adam (Michael Muhney) was the culprit behind his daughter's hit-and-run. TV Guide Magazine's Michael Logan spoke with Tom on what's next for Billy.

TV Guide Magazine: How do things shift for Billy once he knows Adam killed Delia?

Tom: There's certainly no closure, but there's a change in the depth of his anger. Sooner or later, the healing process will have to begin. But, for now, he's furious that Adam did what he did and — even worse — kept it a secret. I can't even imagine what it would be like to deal with something like that yet, at the same time, I can relate. I'm an uncle now in my own life and if somebody did something to harm my little nephew, well...I would definitely want to make that person suffer as much as possible. READ MORE

20 (Okay 22!) Oscar Winners Who Appeared on Soaps!

With everyone experiencing the golden afterglow of this morning's Oscar nominations, I thought it would be a good time to pay tribute to the daytime soap stars (as well as a few from Aussie and Brit daily serials), who have taken home the gold!

HLN Won't Air The Daytime Emmy Awards

Don't expect to find the Daytime Emmy Awards on HLN this year. According to ABC Soaps in Depth, the cable news network made the decision early enough to allow the National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences (NATAS) to find another home.  HLN's Vice-President and General Manager Albie Hecht told the magazine,

"I just want to put a pause on everything and figure out what we're doing before we make any commitments. Shows like [the Daytime Emmys] need commitments in advance to plan and I don't think we can make that commitment."
