Private Practice

Live+7 Benefits Struggling and Strong

The Live Feed is reporting that the DVR Live+7 used by primetime TV has helped a slew of TV shows achieve marked gains in ratings. Life, Lipstick Jungle, Heroes, 90210, Grey's Anatomy, Dirty Sexy Money, Private Practice, Smallville, Prison Break, Boston Legal, Terminator and Chuck all had viewership gains of 17 - 36%.

No wonder several of these smaller shows have been picked up by their networks. What I don't understand is why the ratings for daytime soaps, which require an even larger commitment to watch, aren't calculated on Live+7? Imagine the percentage of viewership increases the soaps could have if their ratings were calculated with Live+7?

Private Practice Picked Up For Full Season

Private Practice fans can breathe a sigh of relief. The Grey's Anatomy spinoff has been picked up for a full season. The pickup comes amid concern for many Wednesday night ABC fans as ratings for Pushing Daisies and Dirty Sexy Money are both down significantly from their first seasons.

According to Live Feed:

All have returned down significantly this year, but "Practice" has been the highest rated of the bunch. The most recent episode garnered 7.4 million viewers and a 2.6 rating among adults 18-49 and a 6 share. Season to date, its averaging 8.3 million viewers and a 3.2/8. Plus, ABC points out "Practice" has been growing 45% from "Daisies."

While I personally enjoy Private Practice, wouldn't you guess that the two show's of the lineup I'm rooting for most are the ones suffering ratings declines.

Primetime Spoiler Round-Up!

Here we go again with the Primetime Spoiler Round-up. Remember to comment away with questions and requests for your favorite Primetime show to get a little Spoiler love.

Grey's Anatomy: There were a few of you asking about the new doctor. When will he be back? Dr. Major McHottie SHOULD be making a brief appearance this week and then next week Major McHottie checks in to Seattle Grace. Melissa George is also checking in as the new bisexual intern. Look for her mid-November. Sad Stuff... they are casting a young boy around 10-years-old who in an upcoming episode is knocking on death's door. This character COULD be around for a few episodes while the story plays out. Counseling session? Not Meredith, although I do love her scenes with the therapist. But this time it's Callie getting the counseling and her therapist is Dr. Sloane so we all know what that means... Callie is getting a little McSteamy lesson on how to treat a woman in bed. Hopefully they've given that little treat some much deserved screentime. McSteamy needs a good storyline STAT! Oh and I must say while I was not a fan of the flood, last week's episode was great! Billy Dee Williams on Private Practice!

Billy Dee Williams (Toussaint, GH: Night Shift) has been cast on ABC's Private Practice.  According to TV Guide, Billy Dee will have a guest role as the husband of one of Sam's (Taye Diggs)  patients.

In what is being described by setsiders as "a very moving role," Williams will play a patient of Taye Diggs' Dr. Sam Bennett. The storyline: BDW has been dutifully caring for his lady as she sings the blues (his wife is addled by dementia-type symptoms), yet he has been doing so with selfless disregard for his own declining health.

Thanks to Megan for the tip.
