Nate Berkus Hospitalized With Appendicitis

Oprah protégé Nate Berkus has been hospitalized with appendicitis, according to People. The talk show host will undergo surgery and taping of The Nate Berkus Show has been postponed.

"He was on the Today show this morning and he wasn't feeling well," a rep for the company that produces The Nate Berkus Show tells PEOPLE exclusively. "He powered through and then went straight to the hospital after that and they learned he had appendicitis."

Mighty O No! Nate Berkus Show "Sputtering" in the Ratings

Not all protégés are created equal it would seem. The New York Post is reporting Oprah’s Midas Touch isn’t quite working on The Nate Berkus Show. The chatfest appears to be fading fast, with ratings falling well behind Nancy Grace’s new show Swift Justice.

"Berkus is likeable, but he pings from decorating to mommy bloggers to saving money to auction tips with the occasional celebrity appearance, making it difficult to discern the show's true identity,"

I can’t say this news surprises me. While Berkus has been one of my favorite Oprah “regulars" over the years, when I tried watching his solo show I found myself wanting to change the channel faster than a teen boy who was caught watching Skinemax by his parents, not that I would know anything about that, of course.

NBC to Cross-Promote DAYS With 'Housewives', a "New Sort of Daytime Soap"

Broadcasting and Cable has a promising new article up on their website today detailing how local NBC affiliates plan to refocus on the Peacock's daytime lineup, and according to the article, long-running, daytime sudser Days of Our Lives appears to be key to that strategy!

The group also will get an assist from its network and syndication marketing arms. They are partnering to create a cross-promotion featuring the network’s soap opera, Days of Our Lives, and Real Housewives that will rebrand the reality show as a new sort of daytime soap.

“From a network, we see it as a benefit for us,” says Scot Chastain, NBC’s senior VP of affiliate marketing and development. “By pairing the two, we send more of a youth audience to Days, and we expose an older audience to Housewives. There’s a lot of cross-blending potential there.” READ MORE
