The Today Show
In what may be the most shameful example of corporate synergy in recent memory, NBC’s Today Show decided to pre-empt the moment of silence honoring September 11 World Trade Center victims by featuring an interview with E! star Kris Jenner. The segment featured a titillating discussion about the importance of removing old breast implants between Jenner and Savannah Guthrie.
TV Guide has released its annual report on TV’s Highest Paid Stars and a number of daytime stars made the list. All My Children alum Kelly Ripa reportedly earns $20 million a year as host of Live! With Kelly.
Matt Lauer, who recently extended his stay at The Today Show, takes home a hefty $21.5 for getting up so early. Mario Batali cooks up $6,000 an episode on The Chew.
NBC has confirmed Savannah Guthrie's promotion to co-anchor of The Today Show with The Hollywood Reporter. This comes after a week of intense media scrutiny over Today's decision to remove Ann Curry from the seat next to Matt Lauer. Here's what NBC News Prexy Steve Capus told THR about Guthrie:
"She’s anchored for Brian [Williams] on NBC Nightly News, moderated for David [Gregory] on Meet the Press, co-hosted the 9 a.m. hour of Today, reported for Rock Center and Dateline, and provided legal insights in our Supreme Court Special Reports – and that was all within the last week," Capus continued. "She's earned the trust of the news community, her colleagues and our viewers alike." READ MORE

Not everyone is excited to see Ann Curry get the boot from The Today Show. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Iraq War veteran Stephen Crowley has set up the online petition "Keep Ann Curry on The Today Show", in order to save the news anchor's gig on NBC's popular morning show.
Crowley claims to be a diehard fan of Curry's ever since she created NBC's "Hiring Our Heroes" job fair for veterans, in partnership with the U.S. Chamber of Commerce. Crowley stated:
All of a sudden I saw this article about how they were getting rid of her. And I thought it was a stunt or The Onion or something. Some kind of fake article. READ MORE
NBC ratings darling The Today Show garnered their fourth Daytime Emmy Award for Outstanding Morning Program. This award breaks the talk show's tie with their rival, ABC's Good Morning America. In a year that saw GMA overtake Today in the ratings, this award has to come as a bit of comfort for the Peacock.
