NBC Puts a Bra on Breast Opera

I hope you haven't been too excited about seeing an American version of the wildly popular Colombian telenovela Sin Tetas No Hay Paraíso (Without Tits There Is No Paradise) on NBC.

The project has been put on hold, indefinitely. According to, the project had been a pet of NBC's co-chairman Ben Silverman, who no doubt wanted to duplicate the monster success ABC has experienced by adapting Betty La Fea for the U.S. market as Ugly Betty.

Meanwhile Telemundo, which like NBC is owned by GE, has developed its own version of the original soap-Sin Senos No Hay Paraíso (Without Breasts There is No Paradise). I wonder if its the title that has NBC so skiddish? Why not simply ask Phil Collins if they can call it Another Day in Booby Paradise? Geesh, do I have to think of everything?

Since that time he has worked on such primetime shows as Desperate Housewives and Ugly Betty. An inside source revealed to us ABC daytime head Brian Frons was unhappy with longterm projections recently submitted by Esensten and Brown for the 38-year-old sudser and had given Pratt, who along with Guza also wrote for Melrose Place, the opportunity to submit his own storylines. Apparently Pratt's vision for the show proved more to the exec's liking.

Pratt In At All My Children, Esensten And Brown Out?

An inside source has revealed to Daytime Confidential rumors that Charles Pratt might assume the head writer reigns at All My Children in the near future just might prove true. According to the source, current AMC scribes James Harmon Brown and Barbara Esensten recently submitted a long-term story projection for the soap that was allegedly rejected by ABC Daytime frontman Brian Frons.

Former General Hospital head writer Pratt, who left daytime to consult for such hit primetime shows as Desperate Housewives and Ugly Betty, is reportedly pitching his own long term plans for the show and if the top brass at ABC daytime likes his work, Brown and Esensten are likely to be shown the door this summer.

An additional rumor that is gaining steam has Gary Tomlin (One Life to Live) taking over as executive producer of AMC from Julie Hanan Carruthers, who allegedly would join ABC's cable sibling SoapNet.
