Popular Turkish Soap Being Made Into Feature Film

Publish date:

Nour, a Turkish soap opera revolving around the seemingly-simplistic plot of a poor girl marrying into a wealthy family, has become such a pop culture phenomenon in Arab-speaking countries, that a feature film version has been greenlit. According to Variety, 85 million people tuned in to see the drama's Aug. 30 finale on MBC. Perhaps it's high time American soap opera execs visted Turkey and the Latin American countries in order to figure out why soaps are blossoming everywhere else on the planet, except in the country that invented the format.
