General Hospital's Julie Marie Berman won the Outstanding Younger Actress Award at the 36th Annual Daytime Emmy Awards. During her acceptance speech she thanked her co-star and fellow nominee Kirsten Storms saying, "Kirsten Storms, I share this with you! You're backstage, but I love you. And this I'm sharing with you tonight."
Like the Outstanding Lead Actress category, 2009's Outstanding Younger Actress was one of this year's most competitive races. Berman was nominated opposite As the World Turns' Meredith Hagner, Days of Our Lives' Rachel Melvin, The Young and the Restless' Emily O'Brien and the previously mentioned Storms.
As the World Turns'Jennifer Landon won the Outstanding Younger Actress Award each of the past three years. All My Children's Eden Riegel won in 2005, while The Bold and the Beautiful'sJennifer Finnigan won in 2002, 2003 and 2004.
