Ratings, Rants and Raves (Brought to You by WASH IT!): ATWT Soars, Why, I Haven't a Clue

Well it looks like the one-two punch of Bridget (Ashley Jones) vs. Agnes (Sarah Brown) and Steffy Forrester: Teen Corporate Raider (Jacqueline MacInnes Wood) proved strong enough to snatch back the number two spot among total viewers for The Bold and the Beautiful (Source: Soap Opera Network). This further proves, I don't know what the crap I am talking about, and should have paid more attention in Algebra class so I coulda done something with my life, since I thought it was beyond asinine, shark-jumping television for that little telenovela twit to best Bill Spencer Jr. and Katie Logan (Don Diamont and Heather Tom) while strutting about town in one of Mick Jagger's frilly shirts. At any rate, B&B added 137,000 total viewers, effectively bumping Days of Our Lives back down to third place. B&B held steady in households and among women 18-49.

Elsewhere on the CBS Daytime lineup, The Young and the Restless dropped 97,000 total viewers over the previous week. Y&R went down one-tenth of a ratings point in households and two-tenths of a point among women 18-49, as TGVN (Eric Braeden) and his blank son Nich-o-Dumb (Joshua Morrow) schemed against his other son, you know, the blind corporate spy (Michael Muhney). Thank the Soap Gods my Ashley Abbott (Eileen Davidson) finally got her wits about her, or I would have been one of those 97,000.

The big ratings winner of the week was cancelled sudser As The World Turns. A whopping 242,000 more total viewers than the previous week tuned in to watch Mitch LaurenceJonathan RandallMarlon BrandoJames Stenbeck Mick terrorize Oakdale in that poorly lit church. See, what do I know? Soap fans actually LIKE this sort of tomfoolery. I give up! ATWT was up year-to-date 107,000 total viewers, once again putting One Life to Live in dead last in total viewers. ATWT stayed the same in households, but went up one-tenth of a point among women 18-49.

Over at ABC, all three sudsers dipped in total viewers. Flagship soap General Hospital shed the most, dropping 133,000 total viewers over the previous week. Could it be that fans aren't thrilled with the fallout from Dante's (Dominic Zamprogna) epic shooting a few weeks back? Or maybe it's seeing Elizabeth Webber (Rebecca Herbst)—one of the soap's most popular heroine— being creatively and systematically destroyed. I know Liason fans certainly aren't thrilled with seeing our girl treated like some post modern Hester from that one book I never read in high school because I was too busy reading Jacke Collins' The Bitch or playing MASH. At any rate, I am still enjoying my GH immensely, but Guza, you can lay off my Lizzie Beth any time you want to! GH went down one-tenth of a point in households, yet held steady among women 18-49.

OLTL, as I previously mentioned, slipped back into last place among total viewers, thanks to 70,000 peeps tuning out from the previous week. OLTL did hold steady in households and among women 18-49, as Llanview coped with Mitch Laurence's (Roscoe Born) after stench. OLTL has been really good this week, however with Gigi (Farah Fath) ho checking Schuyler (Scott Clifton), Kish (Scott Evans and Brett Claywell) dealing with gay baby daddy fears, Clint and Kim (Jerry VerDorn and Amanda Setton) growing closer, Snoop Dogg's appearance and Ford (David Gregory) making Langston (Brittany Underwood) have to buy new panty liners every five seconds, so let's pray the next batch of ratings reflect that. WATCH ONE LIFE TO LIVE!

ABC's other soap, All My Greenlee Return Stints, lost 69,000 total viewers over the previous week. Five will get you ten, one wasn't our Luke Kerr! He and Brian Frons are over the moon to have Greenlee back front and center, too bad the rest of us could care less. Okay, okay, I'm just kidding. I like Greens too. I just don't think she's the second coming of Erica Kane (Susan Lucci), like my pal or ABC Daytime's head honcho. AMC held steady in households and among women 18-49. I must admit, the show is slowly improving. If they fire Denise Vasi, and bring on Daphnee Duplaix as Randi I might be a bit nicer. Just a bit! Keep the channel locked for a word from our sponsor before we come back with DAYS ratings news!

And now to conclude our program, NBC's lone sudser Days of Our Lives lost just 50,000 total viewers from the previous ratings cycle. DAYS stayed the same in households and among women 18-49 as Dr. Carly Manning (Crystal Chappell) dealt with busting a cap on her own daughter. Okay, that's all for now.
