Five Soap Odd Couples We Love

One Life to Live’s Tea Delgado and Blair Cramer: The Bitches on Wheels

Dynamic divas individually, One Live to Live’s Tea Delgado (Florencia Lozano) and Blair Cramer (Kassie DePaiva) have gone toe-to-toe, nearly killed each other on various occasions and fought tooth and nail for Todd’s (Trevor St. John) affection over the years. This week as Tea reeled from the news she doesn’t have much time left in this world she found comfort in the oddest of places, Blair’s arms. It was the bond they share as mothers that had these foes putting their storied past aside and focus on Tea’s crisis. Ironically, it was that storied past that made their scenes together all the more meaningful.

As the World Turns’ Henry Coleman and Barbara Ryan: The Couple That Plays Together

If someone had told us after the revelation that James Stenbeck (Anthony Herrera) is Henry’s (Trent Dawson) father that Henry and Barbara Ryan (Colleen Zenk Pinter) would sizzle up our TV screens the way they do, we would have laughed. She is his father’s ex wife and half brother’s mother after all. And, until that storyline, Henry and Barbara occupied different orbits. Henry’s revolved around Katie (Terri Colombino) and her band of merry men while Barbara’s centered, almost obsessively, on her son Paul (Roger Howarth).

Thankfully, today their romance is one of several bright spots on the soon to end As the World Turns. Henry’s flair for the comedic has rubbed off on Barbara, giving her some much needed relief from oppressiveness of Paul’s storylines. As these two wonderful characters have fallen more and more in love with one another, we in turn have fallen for them. A blind person could see the connection and chemistry they share, plus Barbara gives renewed meaning to term MEOW.

Days of our Lives’ Brady Black and Melanie Kiriakis: The Brawn and the Bubbly

We’ve said a lot about Days of our Lives’ Melanie (Molly Burnett) over the past few years, much of it negative, but even we can see the wonderful chemistry between her and DAYS’ resident hunk Brady Black (Eric Martsolf). Amidst Salem’s insanity Brady is Melanie’s rock. Like a protective older brother he listens to her problems patiently and gives her the advice she may not want to hear. In return Melanie would defend Brady and those he loves to the death. Time will tell if their odd friendship survives.

The Young and the Restless’ Katherine Chancellor and Amber Moore: Fun While it Lasted

One of the oddest couples to immerge over the past few years was that of The Young and the Restless’ great Katherine Chancellor (Jeanne Cooper) and The Bold and the Beautiful transplant Amber Moore (Adrienne Frantz). Maybe it was that Katherine saw a bit of herself in Amber or that she saw what few others have–that Amber really does want to be a good girl–Genoa City’s Grand Dame took Amber under her wing. For her part Amber was honored to help pen Katherine’s memoir and was one of the few who believed Marge was really Katherine. As Amber prepared to return to her old stomping grounds at B&B and began to say goodbye to her Y&R friends and family we were once again reminded of the special relationship this odd couple share.

General Hospital’s Luke Spencer and Helena Cassadine: The Arch Enemies

For decades General Hospital’s Luke Spencer (Anthony Geary) and Helena Cassadine (Constance Towers) have warred with one another, threatening and attempting to kill each other on countless occasions.Their lives have become so intertwined that whether or not they would ever dare admit it, they’ve become co-dependent. One can’t live without the other. While some of their threats can come off as childish there is no question in fan’s minds that given the opportunity they wouldn’t hesitate to slit the other’s throat. But maybe they should hit the sack first?
