James E. Reilly Fans Should Love Empire

Fans of the late James E. Reilly's brand of wacky, fun, soap operatic storytelling on Days of Our Lives and Passions should get a kick out of Empire. As I said in my last post about the show, it took me awhile to get into the webisodic story of a depraived publishing dynasty from Brian Hewson and Gregory Turner, but now that I've gone back and watched a marathon of Empire, I am hooked on the campy sudser!

While Empire doesn't take itself too seriously, the show does manage to convey a pretty powerful message of acceptance, tolerance and family in the midst of story arcs like my current fave which has some crazy heffa having locked the maid— who happens to be her husband's stray daughter— away in a secret room. More Empire please!
