Summer's Seven, Sizzlin’ Soap Couples

Forbidden Passion: JR and Annie, All My Children

Isn’t something all the more delicious when it is forbidden? Eve thought so, until she was thrown out of Eden. Much like Adam and Eve, all it took for All My Children’s JR (Jacob Young) and Annie (Melissa Claire Egan) was one taste of the forbidden to fall for one another, and out of favor with JR’s father Adam. They need each other like an addict needs a fix, but even as they tap into the veins of their desires, something more is growing between them, an organic, unbridled passionate love that neither wants to admit and no one else in Pine Valley seems to be able to replicate.

Overcoming the Ogre Within: Luke and Reid, As the World Turns

Much of Luke Snyder’s (Van Hansis) romantic life has revolved around Noah Mayer (Jake Silbermann), but after Noah’s accident and his subsequently pushing Luke away, Reid Oliver(Eric Sheffer Stevens) entered the picture. A brilliant doctor— with the personality of an ogre— Reid didn’t make life easy for Luke as he tried to help his ex-boyfriend. However, over time Luke began to see past Reid’s abrasive personality and as the two men grew closer, their chemistry began to sizzle. Luke has matured, thanks to his adult relationship with Reid, becoming more like his decisive grandmother Lucinda (Elizabeth Hubbard) and less like his wishy washy mother Lily (Noelle Beck). Reid has inspired Luke to go for what he wants. As for Reid, for all his attempts to maintain his Man of Steel persona, he finally  warmed to Luke’s persistence. As Luke and Reid's respective emotional walls came tumbling down, many fans began to take a liking to this Beauty and the Beast pairing. Noah, who?

Dangerous Liaisons: EJ and Sami, Days of our Lives

Days of our Lives’ Sami (Alison Sweeny) has had many men in her life, but none more intoxicatingly-dangerous than EJ DiMera (James Scott). The mother of his two children, EJ loves Sami and whether-or-not she wants to admit it to herself they share a connection beyond that of their children. However, it isn't just their turbulent past filled with deception, blackmail and passion that makes the will-they-or-won’t-they dynamic so enticing to viewers. It is also the very real possibility that Sami might choose the calming safe harbor of Rafe (Galen Gering) over the man whose whole being makes her come alive with anticipation of the unexpected.

Trial by Fire: Todd and Tea, One Life to Live

Todd (Trevor St. John) is the love of Tea’s (Florencia Lozano) life, but for Todd, the choice has always been a little more difficult, thanks in no small part to that meddlesome Cramer girl, Blair (Kassie DePaiva) (Editor's Note: TAWD loves BLAIR!). Todd and Tea’s battles with and for one another have been epic, but it is Tea’s fight for her life that has brought out the seldom seen humanity of Todd. From being with her during her tests, to the moments he’s held her in his arms,  the impending loss of the woman he loves—and mother of his most recently discovered child—has brought about a change in Todd. They say absence makes the heart grow fonder, but for Todd the real possibility of loss seems to be doing the trick.

Naked Ambition: Abby and Daniel, The Young and the Restless

From the moment Marcy Rylanmade her revealing debut as Abby Newman on The Young and the Restless we were hooked. Throwing Daniel (Michael Graziadei) into her orbit as the reluctant voice of reason, caught up in Abby’s outlandish schemes, has anchored what might have been another, over-the-top spoof of the celebutante-crazed culture we live in. (See Paris, Nicole, Lindsay). Daniel and Abby don't simply sizzle during their makeout scenes that make us burst out in fits of laughter during the comedic ones. However, it is in those fleeting moments when Abby and/or Daniel sees right through the other's b.s.  that makes this couple so enjoyable.

Blossoming over time, their romance is honest and sweet, but like most teen couples, they face a myriad of trials and tribulations. Oliiver and Hope have had to contend with feelings of uncertainty, trying to figure out the right time to be intimate, Oliver accidentally sleeping with Hope’s mother...yeah, okay so not every teen couple goes through the latter, but your get our meaning. Inspite of all their obstacles, we still find ourselves hoping for a future for this young couple. If they could only neutralize that corporate raiding teen bee youch Steffy (Jacqueline MacInnes Wood)!

Heat Index: Johnny and Olivia, General Hospital

This is an Emergency Alert from the New York State Public Power District. Due to record high temperatures and the explosive heat rising off of Port Charles’ Johnny (Brandon Barash) and Olivia (Lisa LoCicero), expect rolling blackouts to be a common occurrence as New York residents are forced to turn up their air conditioning while watching General Hospital's hottest, current pairing.

Unlike General Hospital's decimated Patrick (Jason Thompson) and Robin (Kimberly McCullough), the down trodden Spinelli (Bradford Anderson) and Maxie (Kirsten Storms) or the overplayed Dante (Dominic Zamprogna) and Lulu (Julie Marie Berman), the intensity of JoLivia's all to seldom scenes leave us wanting more and and more. Quick, someone turn the AC down!
