It looks like indepedent soap opera Hacienda Heights is being repackaged as a primetime sudser starring Julio Iglesias, Jr. and sexpot Vida Guerra (FHM's 2004 Model of the Year). According to a press release, the highly-anticipated sudser, which was initially tested as a possible 30-minute daytime soap, is now filming 13 new episodes in English and Spanish and is expected to appear on a network sometime in 2011.
While I was definitely excited about the possibility of seeing Hacienda Heights syndicated for daytime, I'm certainly not opposed to a muy caliente primetime drama, especially one that boasts the likes of Passions alum Eva Tamargo among the cast!
Hacienda Heights was created by Desmond Gumbs of Chan Add Films. The initial 30-minute daily airings of the serial (which were shown in 2010 in L.A., San Francisco, Yuma and Santa Rose) reportedly regularly beat ratings for CBS Daytime's The Bold and the Beautiful. Hacienda Heights is being distributed by Trifecta Entertainment and Media.
