When it comes to just one character or a select group of characters monopolizing a show no one does it better than General Hospital. For years fans complained about a lack of balance across the canvas. While GH has done better job at spreading the love across Port Charles’s characters in recent years, all it takes is a quick read of comments here at Daytime Confidential or one of the many popular soap forums to quickly realize that while improvements have been made, some things rarely change with this particular soap opera.

Fans still complain about GH being the Sonny (Maurice Benard) and Jason (Steve Burton) hour. When James Franco was leaving his, how shall I put it, “unique” mark on the show fans felt it was too much. When he returned for a second stint few cared and many groaned. However, it is the promising return of Brenda (Vanessa Marcil Giovinazzo) that has glaringly went off the rails.

Just a few short months ago the return of Brenda was heralded as General Hospital’s savior. Now fans are lining up to check themselves into the Betty Ford clinic, and share a room with Lindsay Lohan, so that they can go through a Brenda Barrett rehabilitation program. While we still love Brenda, when is General Hospital going to learn that too much of a good thing is rarely the best thing?
