I am burning sage for soap superstar Debbi Morgan (ex-Angie, All My Children) this morning. According to CBS Soaps In Depth, the actress tapes her first episode of The Young and the Restless today. While I am thrilled that one of the best actresses to ever appear on daytime will remain gainfully employed, I sincerely hope the brass at Y&R does better by Morgan than they have the countless other big name gets they've snagged in recent years.
Here's hoping Y&R executive producer/head writer Maria Arena Bell has a carefully thought out long story for Morgan and doesn't just get bored with her after a 13-week arc, or when the next big grab becomes available. I know I sound like a cynical SOB, but with the way Maura West, Stacy Haiduk and other Y&R snatch-and-grabs have been treated, I have to admit I have major reservations about this. That being said, Morgan has proven on many occasions that she can turn shiz into sugar during her most recent stint on All My Children. Something tells me that ability could serve her in good stead in Genoa City. Morgan makes her onscreen debut Oct. 7.
