Mark Consuelos to Play Gay

A partial cast list for Standing on Ceremony: The Gay Marriage Plays has been released and it will be starring several familiar faces.  MarkConsuelos, best known for playing “Mateo” on All My Children and guest-cohosting on Live with Regis & Kelly, will be featured in the acclaimed production.  The premiere New York cast will also feature CraigBierko (Boston Legal), PollyDraper (Thirtysomething) and HarrietHarris (Desperate Housewives).

The play features several vignettes, which address the fight for marriage equality.  Each one-act play was written by celebrated authors and includes: Jordan Harrison, Jeffrey Hatcher, Moises Kaufman, Neil LaBute, Wendy McLeod, Jose Rivera, Paul Rudnick, and Doug Wright.  

Standing on Ceremony is coming to Off-Broadway from L.A., where it was a hit.  Some of its past stars included ZacharyQuinto, Jesse Tyler Ferguson, MatthewBroderick, and KathyNajimyThis production will begin previews on Nov. 7 and participate in the Tectonic Theater Project for Standing on Ceremony: The NationalEvent. That night, the play's message will come to participating theaters around the world, as they present their own version of the play.  This initiative hopes to raise awareness for the support of marriage equality and the organizations who crusade for it.

UPDATE:  Richard Thomas (The Waltons) and Tony award-winner Beth Leavel will coomplete the cast.
