Soap fans may be losing Jesse and Angie on All My Children and theEvans and Delgadoclans on One Life to Live, but we're gaining a myriad of sleek, sexy, urban web soap operas featuring people of color. A-list actor Idris Elba is the latest to jump into the webisoap game by serving as executive producer of Brown Paper Dolls Production's new sudser Milk + Honey.
Milk + Honey is the steamy, continuing confection of Nia (Asha Kamali), Samirah (Yaani King) and Harper (Shauntay Hinton), three best friends trying to make it do what it do in Los Angeles. Nia, a junior advertising executive and aspiring actress, has been in love with investment banker/up and coming record producer Will (Lance Gross) since childhood.
Spiritual-yet-spirited disc jockey/photog and Ivy League grad Samirah has an intense tutorial session on the vinyl with Haitian-American soccer hunk Jace (Passions alum Charles Divens), could it lead to more? Meanwhile, ambitious, cunning Harper has plans to become a major Hollywood power broker one day, that is if she can manage to impress rainmaker entertainment lawyer Jonathan (Bryce Wilson).
Also appearing in Milk + Honey is the legendary Debbie Allen, as famed actress-turned-teacher Eva Monroe, who puts Nia through her paces at an exclusive acting class. Judging by the first two episodes, I think Mr. Elba and fellow executive producers Jeanette McDuffie, Dana Gills, Asha Kamali May are on to something hot-like-fiya!
