Empire creators, Brian Hewson and Greg Turner (seen above with guest star MollyBurnett), are gonna have a little help from a very noteworthy friend, when it comes to directing episodes of their popular webisoap this season. Former All My Children and One Life To Live director Fritz Brekeller has signed on!
“I am thrilled to lend my 20 of experience to the terrific Empire team, and work with its wonderful cast, as well as having the chance to collaborate with creator/writers Greg Turner and Brian Hewson,” Brekeller says. “Their passion and daring have created an exciting and fresh series, and together we will be raising the bar for the upcoming fourth season and will continue to do so for many seasons to come."
Frekeller joins the Empire gang just in time to helm a location shoot for the series in the Hamptons. In other Empire news, As The World Turns star Lauren B. Martin (ex-Camille), has been cast as Det. Bailey, a cop who shares a tangled history with the powerful Haven and Reed clans. Martin will reunite with her former ATWT co-star Ellen Dolan (ex-Margo), who plays a psychic bag lady on the campy sudser.
“I know the Hamptons very well and it was just by chance that the writers of the series came up with a deliciously soapy Agatha Christie-style storyline for the new season and located it here,” Dolan teases. “It’s going to be so much fun!”
In addition to Dolan, daytime alums Orlagh Cassidy (ex-Doris, Guiding Light), Yvonne Perry (ex-Rosanna, ATWT) and Tina Sloan (ex-Lillian, GL) are all onboard, full-time for Season 4 of Empire, as their respective, webisoap alter egos Colleen Lively, her pal Valerie and the bitch nasty Theodora Grant Haven, get caught up in the central murder mystery.
Molly Burnett is also reprising the role of Lisa, Theodora's biggest fan, alongside her former DAYS leading man Mark Hapka. Are you excited for Season 4 of Empire?
