What is quickly becoming the Emmys for the webisoap community, the Annual Indie Soap Awards are being held tonight in Gotham, and to say the nominees are pumped, would be an understatement on par with saying theDeVanity siblings are just a wee bit dysfunctional!
Anacostia creator/leading man Anthony Anderson (who I am forever trying to rename Anthony Edwards for some odd reason!) is predicting the cast of his sizzling, mocha take on classic primetime soaps like Peyton Place and Knots Landing, will stun on the red carpet tonight. Anderson tweeted:
Starting to get ready for tonight's Indie Soap Awards #anacostia we gonna rock that red carpet @WeLoveSoapsTV
Anacostia is nominated for six Indie Soap Awards (seven if you count the Fans' Choice Award), including nods for Best Actor in a Web Drama and Best Writing, both for Anderson. Daytime soap superstar Martha Byrne is also nominated for her delicious, guest spot as a D.C.-area madam on the serial.
Keeping with the fashion theme, daytime soap standout Signy Coleman, star and co-executive producer of auteur Tyler Ford's so-brilliant-it-should-be-on-cable web series River Ridge, revealed she's wearing an A-list designer for the event, not once, but twice!
Just left Valentino in NYC with 2 of the most beautiful dresses to wear Tuesaday night to the Indie Soap Awards! Thanks to Rory @ Valentino
Since River Ridge only recently premiered, it wasn't up for any Indie Soap Awards this time around, but something tells me the powerful drama about two sisters and their gritty family secrets will clean up on this night a year from now!
Michael Caruso, the star and creator of DeVanity, which has quickly joined the ranks of Imaginary Bitches, The Bannen Way and Buppies among my all-time favorite web series, tweeted this from the sinful sudser's official Twitter handle:
JUST landed! New York is about to get TRASHY. The DeVanitys are here!!
Suddenly I feel a strong urge to warn NYPD that all their efforts to de-perve Time Square could soon be for naught!DeVanity is up for three Indie Soap Awards (and a Fans' Choice nod), including Best Web Series (Drama).
Steve Silverman, creator of the sassy, popular continuing web-com Pretty, is poised to be the big winner of the evening, what with his series' whopping 13 nods. Here's what was tweeted recently from the Pretty Twitter profile:
Plans for tonites ISAs: 1. Dress slutty 2. Cry whether win or lose 3. Thank Moses no one ever thanks him he did a lot too u guys
The hunky Kristos Andrews, who is nominated for Best Breakout Performance for the novice actor's impressive turn in Gregori J. Martin'sThe Bay spinoff, Far From The Bay assured a fan on FB he was getting ready to pimp the red carpet by only dining on a turkey burger.
Todd Fisher, one half of the groundbreaking St. John-Fisher Network (The SFN), which will be exclusively webcasting the 3rd Annual Indie Soap Awards on March 18, has been tweeting pics up a storm since arriving in NYC for the festivities. This guy, along with partner Stewart St. John, could teach the guys from Prospect Farce, er Park a thing 'er three! Good luck to all of tonight's nominees!
