Y&R BYTES: The anniversary of Cassie’s death has always been a time for reflection on The Young and the Restless. Thursday’s episode was no different. The seventh anniversary began with Victor (Eric Braeden) visiting Cassie’s (Camryn Grimes) grave. Of course Nikki (Melody Thomas Scott) arrived shortly after and together they grieved the loss of their granddaughter.
Meanwhile, Nick (Joshua Morrow) spent some time talking to Cassie at the church, where Sharon (Sharon Case) found him. Later, Noah (Kevin Schmidt) sat by her grave and told his guardian angel he needed her advice.
The Newman family’s remembrance of Cassie made me pause to wonder how the character would have ended up if she were still alive. Would she be a Genoa City saint, or the town slut like Sharon?
When Sharon asked Victor if he thought Cassie would approve of them being together, the first thing I thought before he would respond was OH-HELL-NAW!
I did like the toast to Cassie. For one day we caught a glimpse of what Y&R might be if it’s writing wasn’t a mountainous pile of dung 29 out of every 30 days.
Daisy (Yvonne Zima) asked Daniel (Michael Graziadei) to share with her what happened on that terrible day long ago. When he wasn’t ready to share, Daisy became upset. When Kevin (Greg Rikaart) wouldn’t tell her, Daisy pulled out the “I’m your sister card.” I can’t believe the guilt trip worked on him!
B&B BYTES: Bill fired up the Spencer jet to zoom off and spring Deacon (Sean Kanan) from prison. I wonder exactly how he’s going to pull that off? Bill has a lot riding on Deacon saving Liam (Scott Clifton) from Hope (Kim Matula). Even though Dollar Bill is a master manipulator, I doubt Deacon will tow the company line for long after he’s free.
I just had a thought. What if Deacon and Steffy (Jacqueline MacInnes Wood) were paired? They might be hot together! I wonder what Amber (Adrienne Frantz) is going to do when Deacon returns to town?
Deacon: “Who are you?”
Bill: “You might say I’m your fairy godfather.”
Deacon: “What do you want?”
Bill: “The question is, what do you want, Deacon?”
Ridge’s (Ronn Moss) design work was interrupted by his mother Stephanie (Susan Flannery). Ma Forrester wasn’t happy when she learned he was considering designing Hope wedding dress. Brooke (Katherine Kelly Lang) joined them and immediately began to defend the wedding preparations.
GH BYTES: Heather (Robin Mattson) tormented Sam (Kelly Monaco) about the paternity of her baby. Meanwhile, Jason (Steve Burton) visited the Q mansion to tell Monica (Leslie Charleson) the truth about the baby being Franco’s (James Franco). Mattson plays insane so well!
Meanwhile at the Q’s boathouse, Tracy (Jane Elliot) discovered Anthony’s (Bruce Weitz) body and the gun that killed him. As she tried to figure out what to do, Luke (Anthony Geary) arrived. Both suspected the other of killing her husband. An “anonymous” caller tipped off the police about gun shots on the Q estate. Cut to Tracy and Luke carrying Anthony’s body around the grounds to keep him from being discovered.
Luke, on hearing the police coming towards them: “What the hell, did someone install a homing device…?”
Anthony’s cadaver sitting on the patio chair, with a hat and magazine, was probably the funniest thing to happen on Thursday’s soaps. Hilarious!
It was great to see so many Quartermaines in an episode. Monica gave Jason advice about how to handle raising someone else’s child by drawing from her past with Alan (Stuart Damon).
A mob boss (Maurice Benard) and a media magnet (Roger Howarth) sit down in a pasta shop (insert your own joke here).
At the hospital, Olivia (Lisa LoCicero) and Kate (Kelly Sullivan) bonded, as Kate explained what she’d done as Connie.
Carly (Laura Wright) swooped into Johnny’s (Brandon Barash) apartment, demanding to know why he’d tried to convince Sonny to help Kate. Johnny apologized again for wrecking their relationship. Barash is hitting his scenes out of the park day in and day out.
Heather popped up at the Q mansion, where Monica threatened her with jail time for violating the restraining order. Just as Tracy and Luke had a moment to regroup, and try to figure out how to get rid of Anthony, Heather walked out onto the patio. It should be hilarious to see what happens on Friday’s episode.
DAYS BYTES: It turns out the anniversary of Cassie’s death on The Young and the Restless is also Bo (Peter Reckell) and Hope’s (Kristian Alfonso) wedding anniversary on Days of Our Lives. I don’t know why I never noticed that before. Bope fans were treated to some heavy petting by their favorite couple! One thing is for sure, they are still magical after all these years.
Uh oh, little Theo picked up one of Celeste’s (Beverly Todd) cards and it wasn’t a good one. Twenty years from now might Theo be the one running through Salem shouting, “Danger darling, danger!”?
Why can't Will (Chandler Massey) have someone else for a BFF other than Gabi (Camila Banus)? That's one character I wouldn't mind seeing run over by a Mac truck.
EJ (James Scott) demanded Stefano (Joseph Mascolo) give him his money back. Stefano’s response: “That’s not going to happen, not today or ever.” Sami (Alison Sweeney), Lucas (Bryan Dattilo), Will and Marlena (Deidre Hall) may be the best thing about DAYS, but Stefano and EJ’s relationship is a close second.
I don’t know about you, but I’d love to read a memoir by Stefano. Imagine the juicy stuff he’s done in the past we don’t even know about. It would be a fun read to say the least.
Could John (Drake Hogestyn) actually kill Stefano? I doubt it.
