General Hospital Makes an Impression at TCA!

General Hospital showrunner Frank Valentini and much of his cast were on hand for the Television Critics Association Summer Press Tour on Thursday. The Port Chucksters seemed optimistic in light of ABC opting to keep GH in play for the time being, but were also aware of the lethal climate daytime dramas currently exist in. Below are a few key quotes:

Valentini on ABC's renewed commitment to the show, as reported by Deadline:


They’re behind this 100% and very excited about the 50th anniversary coming up. I’m pretty confident. You just need to watch the show to sort of catch the energy and the momentum that we have, and the network’s a big part of that.

Nancy Lee Grahn (Alexis) on the importance of tradition, as reported in the LA Times:

“I think everyone seems to enjoy cutting-edge things these days,” said Nancy Lee Grahn, who has played Alexis Davis on the sudser since 1996. “But there's something to really be valued about tradition and something that is familiar and makes people feel comfortable and is generational and inclusive.”
