It's good ratings news all around for soaps! General Hospital scored double-digit, year-to-year increases in all key demos, as the soap kicked off its 50th anniversary celebration.
According to an ABC press release, GH delivered its most-watched week among women 25-54 in a year and a half. The sudser ranked No. 2 in the coveted demo. The iconic daytime drama also hit a six-week high in total viewers, with 2.79 million tuning in to see Luke (Anthony Geary), Laura (Genie Francis), Frisco (Jack Wagner), Felicia (Kristina Wagner), Lucy Coe (Lynn Herring) and the rest of Port Charles' golden (anniversarry) oldies and fresh-faced, singin' and dancin' newbies.
GH hit a five-week high among women 18-49 and boasted double-digit percent increases year-to-year across all key demos, including +25 percent in total viewers (2.79 million vs. 2.24 million), +23 percent in W18-49 and +27 percent in W25-54.
The episode that officially kicked off the Nurses Ball was GH's most-watched telecast in six weeks among W18-49. Someone should send Richard Simmons a gift basket, filled with Magic Milo's (Drew Cheetwood) sweaty boxer briefs.
