The Weinstein Company has released a trailer for Lee Daniels’ highly-anticipated film, The Butler. The period piece centers on the real-life story of Eugene Allen, who served as the White House butler for eight presidents from 1952-1986. Forest Whitakertakes on the title role, with daytime talk show maven Oprah Winfrey as his wife.
This marks Winfrey’s first appearance on the silver screen since starring in Beloved 15 years ago. Watch the trailer after the jump!
The Butler is slated to open at the box office Oct. 18.
